I did this -- however I'm not skilled enough to use surface mount resistor so I used standard 1000ohm resistor. it worked like a charm. I've done 4 radios -- very easy to do .
Thank you very much for the reply! do you happen to know if this mod will interfear with my gyro x-1000 mod? Thanks again!

I am new to this radio but have done some reading and it looks like if I flash my radio (when it finally arrives!) it should be great. I know there is a programming board from smartieparts that stays in the radio, but isn't there another way to flash the programming? I saw someone else had a board that is removable that does the same thing. Can someone point me in this direction. Thanks.

In truth, you don't want a removable programmer. The ability to connect the TX to the computer via the USB cable is the greatest strength of this system. If you have not played with EEPE or companion9x yet -- download them and get used to them. These are the programs that you use to interface with the transmitter. At first it's a foreign world -- but after you get comfortable with them -- you will have an amazing amount of control of the functionality of the transmitter.

There are other options for programmers -- but they require soldering to the PCB in the transmitter. These may interface with an external component that plugs in to a custom port you install -- but are not truly removable.

Without a doubt, Smartieparts is the way to go. Expensive but convenient.

With the Smartieparts board installed, has anyone come up with a GUI software for connection to the ER9x that gives you ability to make changes and save settings on a PC? Something like a Visual Basic or C++ software, or is there no specific language. I think JR has software to connect your TX to.

Thanks
Joe
