The End Of Slofly.COM

I just wanted to post a message here as I have been getting Dozens of Emails in the last couple Days.

As Of Last Sunday Night 11/29/2009

Steve over at www.slofly.com has decided to pull the plug on his website!

Steve was one of the first person who turned me onto EPP and was in his on words the pioneer of flying EPP profile planes and his slofly28 is still one of the best designed planes for a new 3D pilot looking to learn 3D

I Wish Steve the best in the future and hope to see him back in some way down the line

I have a build tread on the rcgroups for the Superslo28

And will always be here to answer questions and help people to keep the slofly planes alive.

Thanks again Steve

Robert

"It is the pioneer who gets the arrows in his back"

Bitterness after all this time? A pioneer, in addition to blazing new trails, overcomes obstacles - no matter how difficult. Pioneers don't harbor bitterness and resentment and bury their sorrows in a bong - they seek ways to overcome their hurdles.

Steve authored some interesting concepts, but is no god of engineering. In fact, his negative attitude towards his competition as displayed here in internetland did as much to hurt this sport as it did to promote it.

Just the observation of a man that listened to him whine in his ear over the phone on more than one occasion...

Good luck to you Steve. TallFlyer, I am glad you will continue to support the SloFly planes.

I built the SuperSlo 28 as my first scratchbuild and my first 4 channel plane. I spent hours on slofly.com looking at all the videos, pictures and information. This plane really helped me learn to fly better. I highly recommend it to any new pilot.

Thanks again Steve and TallFlyer for your contributions.

When I first got into foamies I heard about that site. Heard I could get foam and such there. Went to the site and could not find a way to buy anything. Took my business to rcfoam.com.

Send $2 by paypal to purchase@slofly.com or email steve@slofly.com for where to send in your party fees.

Thanks!

I went over to the site to try to find out what was going on (I thought that maybe his site had been hacked, or something). After surfing around for a few minutes trying to find a post explaining what was going on, I found myself with no user rites to the forum. Only thing I could figure was that this was Steve's way of getting his forum to pay his bills - I would have to pay to join the "party". He had expressed to me last year (when I tried to get an interview with him for a spot on RCFC) that he was upset that he wasn't making any money on his forum and that he was about to lose everything. I guess he was not satisfied with the income generated by the site so he shut it down.

Very odd, indeed...

That was exactly my experience. If he was actually running a business, it sure wasn't obvious. It looked like you had to initiate contact with him to find out what he had. Sorry but that dog don't hunt. I want to quickly size up a vendor and determine if they have what I need. 20 questions doesn't work.
