If you ask Mike (JettPilot), he will send the plug with your Dragon Link - that's where I got mine.

Did the plug come with any of your gear, or did you go pick one up someplace?

Just an update: I am getting some tx screen dimming but if I hold my hand on the dragon link, the screen is solid.

Confusion with post 2

Hi,

I'm having a problem understanding post 2 in this thread. It seems that Pin 2 on the DIN for the Optic 6 is listed in item 1 and item 2 - I think this may be wrong. Can anyone confirm if it is?

Also has anyone built a training cord from the Aurora to the Optic 6 with a DIN connector from the information in post 2?

My concern is the Aurora and the Optic 6 have two different battery voltages (9.6 and 7.2) and I'm not sure the cords can be connected with the different voltages.

I've tried to order the factory built training cords, but everyone seems to be out of stock.

Thanks for your help.

Fly4Fun,

Wayne

1. If in doubt refer to full thread:

and also to sub Section

2 . There is no power transfered to or from the Aurora 9 (nor Optic Sport which uses similar system)

Does not answer question

Hi A.T.

I have read all the links that you have referred me just in case I missed something the first time, I had read them previously. I have also read the TX2TX site.

The links you providedm above do not answer the question about pin 2 being used as both master and slave on the Optic 6 as stated in post number 2 of this thread. The information in that post may be incorrect and may need to be reviewed.

I fully understand the set-up procedures and have no problem with the set-up, but thanks for the information.

The above questions I posted are still unanswered.

Specifically, I'm wondering if anyone has successfully linked an Aurora 9 to Optic 6 with a DIN connector using the information in post number 2 of this thread. My concern is the different voltages between the two transmitters.

I do appreciate your responses, however I am hoping someone can answer the above questions.

Thanks in advance.

Fly4Fun,

1. Typo corrected, not previously picked up sorry as most would have just looked at both the attached diagram and others which are quite clear.
A number of cables made from same post have been advised to be in use.

2. There is no power transfered between the Aurora <> Optic, voltage is a non issue.
(Both TX must provide own power)

Did this get answered?

Nope, if you have something like a dragon link, whack the three cables on a servo plug, remove the module from the A9 and (when viewed from the back of the Tx) you want the three leftmost pins, I can't remember the pinout off hand (it's on the thread somewhere) but a standard servo plug can be used with the DL (it's what I use) and its easy enough to do.

using external modules with Aurora 9

I have this figured out. took me a while.

I have the aurora 9 with the spectra pro module (72 MHZ)

I also use the FRSKY DHTU module. this module works fine on my Futaba 9c as shown in the FRSKY instructions.

the Aurora 9s voltage is not high enough to use with the included pack. (I have not tried a LIPO)

so I connected my DHTU to a 9.6V NiCad battery and then connected the ground wire to the ring of a 1/8 inch head phones jack and the PPM signal to the TIP of the headphones jack.

please ensure that you connect the negative wire of the battery and the ring (ground) of the 1/8 inch headphone jack (trainer port on back of aurora 9)

works like a champ.

the radio has the spectra pro module installed. the screen prompts me to turn on the radio and I say NO and even so the module works.
also my modulation type is set to PPM negative.

to be clear - I am not using the pins on the module at all. I am using a 1/8 inch headphone jack and an external battery to power the FRSKY DHTU.

Isn't Aurora powered from a 2s Lipo pack or 6Nimh? Thus more than 7V anyway ... ?
If true, DHT-U will work fine powered from Aurora, it is OK even at 6V.
