Sounds like you are satisfied with quality of the stock prop and its price. I will probably just go with that.
I bought a graupner replacement, the price was similar to the original prop, that anyway was not avalilable in Italy.

I am satisfied with the quality, would not try to save 5 USD or so, buying a low cost propeller: you are not supposed to break many props because of its position, protected.

I preferred to save more money buying an esc and a replacement motor from HK, when I had to replace both....

Hello pilots!

Here is my Xeno, it's my first flying wing. Finding the propulsion set too expensive, I built the motor support like in this French site http://www.jivaro-models.org/xeno_mu.../page_xeno.htm then made my own vacuumformed body.
Motor: Turnigy 2217 1050kv
Prop: Graupner folding prop 8x6
ESC: Red Brick 30A
Battery: Turnigy 3S 20C 1800mAh
Servos: HK939MG
AUW: 820g

First flight yesterday with a lot of wind, here is a video of the second flight with a missed landing (rather a crash ) at the end. No broken parts, it's very strong!

Just got one of these for my birthday. Looks like a well put together kit, anyone have a good electronics setup for it using the stock power pod thingy?
I'd like to keep it clean looking
If possible I'd like to get everything from the US, and from one place.

Might have found some stuff I didn't see before:
HURC 450 sport motor- http://www.headsuprc.com/servlet/the...2C-28mm/Detail
HURC 30A ESC http://www.headsuprc.com/servlet/the...-30-Amp/Detail
And a pair of these: http://www.headsuprc.com/servlet/the...0-Metal/Detail

That sound like a decent setup that'll drop right in?

How to launch Xeno

Hello pilots!

After several bad launches without help, here is a method which always works for me. NOTE: I use a transmitter stand and I'm in mode 2.

Enjoy!

Changing hands wouldn't work for me. I prefer to throw it at full power and then the hand finds down quick enough.

I did a test glide on mine, if you give it a good hard throw there should be plenty of time to launch power off then get a hand back on the tx

I tried the glide method, but crashed each time! Now, with the changing hands method it works every time, at least for me

820 g and perfectly balanced at 220 mm from the front, as said in the manual. In the video the wing go to the left because of a gust of wind, otherwise it takes off straight.

This is how I throw mine: I put a mix in place where I use the flap switch to give a little bit of up elevator. I'm right handed.

- Engage the switch to give slight up elevator
- Toss it with my right hand with no power, transmitter in my left hand. Xeno does NOT aim for the ground, but it goes straight (slightly up, losing speed quickly)
- Give full throttle as quickly as possible, which I do before I even grab the right stick completely
- Xeno goes nicely up without me having to give up elevator (because of the mix)
- once I get a hold of myself and the transmitter and the Xeno, I disengage the flap switch and fly!

This method works for me pretty much every time, I crash it only if I totally mess up the toss, which doesn't happen a lot (but it does happen :-) ). I tried the power on method in the beginning, but when I mess up the toss, it just goes into the ground at full throttle.

Hugofly, This should work out well for me!.

When i underhand toss my little edf's, its at full power (and easier to keep everything level underhanded) but with a flying wing like this, if it goes poorly it will just auger itself into the ground at full power.

So with flying wing's its toss it, then power on with a bit of up trim.

The worse that can happen is it glides a few feet away in front of you undamaged if the toss goes poorly and you leave the throttle alone.

Thank you for the tip!!!

Ok, weighing in at 850g ready to go, my xeno!
161 watts per pound, nice and spirited performance
Glide test in the yard went well, looking forward to the maiden.
