George I really do think you should change your Club ...... that runway is desperately small .......

Great video ...... I have to fine tune the low throttle technique but it certainly seems to be the way to get the Xeno down where you want it ....

New larger fins

Here are the pictures I promised yesterday. There are a couple of shots where you can clearly see the difference in size and shape of the new fins which is also important.

Larger Fins

Hi georgebinns,
Loose really look nice! and I am sure they will make it track better! I just made some for mine out of Foam,will sand them to shape, and glass them with light cloth. Thanks for the idea

Joe .... I hope you haven't gone to deep on the bottom of the Fin .... ..... The underside of the Xeno can sustain a good bit of pressure on landing ......

I do like George's and your approach to expanding the Fin area ....

I like your fin idea Joe - nice and simple and extends further back than mine! I agree with Hobie14 though - the underside of the fins may be a bit vulnerable on landing but if you are going to glass them it should be ok

dekan- Is there an online version of that review we could link to? It must be nice to have access to magazines that aren't filled with articles that are practically shameless plugs for Horizon or Great Planes products!

I don't thinks so, my FB has a subscription.....review is by Andy Ellison... I don't think my scanner is good enough to make much of a job reproducing the 4 page article

Makes you wonder why modelers still buy magazines:

"Sags from the launch with the stock motor"? There is no stock motor, but two motor options. I can launch my Xeno without any motor power and fly a 360° circle. Why would it sag with power on? Makes no sense to me.

Don't blame the messenger....
I don't own a Xeno.... and would not have bought one, so the review is only interesting ...but as MiniRips said it makes change to see a review that doesn't slavishly praise a kit...so as not to offend one of the magazines advertisers.

Xeno Review in FMT 04/2010

Conclusion:

The Xeno is a perfectly constructed fun wing with a clever folding mechanism for easy transportation. Quality and a very complete kit justify the price tag. As far as power is concerned, I highly recommend the tuning drive, which costs just 20 Euros more. You don't need to fly WOT all the time, although it is quite tempting.
