Depending on the shape of the battery, a 3s 1300 - 1500mAh should not be a problem.

At twice the weight I don't think it can get anywhere near the HLG- and thermal performance of it, but we'll see.

I still think it'll be a good HLG for lighter lift

At least the decor is light: Only 2.1g per wing half.

i wonder if you have no problem with the wing being single piece how low you could go leaving the plastic parts out (just buy the elapor parts)
Then you might be able to end up with a fairly light wing wich should be more durable as that mini zagi thing from years ago.

Anyway i see kit bashing potentional

Buying just the Elapor parts does not seem to be a viable option.

The complete kit at www.hoellein.com costs €55.90

Looking at the spare parts:

Wings: €22.90
Fins: €9.90
Plastic parts: €20.50

It would be better to buy a kit, and leave the parts off you don't want.

Leaving the center section off might save you 100g or so, but you would also lose a feature, which makes this wing so attractive: Easy transportation and storage, glider/motor-model change in seconds.

All that plastic is the "foldable" part from this wing features.

Plus the removable fin features, canopy and linkage protectors.

I find very weird it has no main spar / wing reinforcement...
Wondering what gives the overall strength

Look at the center section: There are two short spars going into the roots of the Elapor wings, the wings have a firm fit and adequate area to be glued to the plastic center parts. There are also two additional carbon spars embedded in the bottom of the wings.

Me to wondering about alternate ways to mount a motor in the back, without sacrificing foldability

If you mount the motor in the back, you would need a lot of extra weight in the nose to achieve the correct CG. If you wanted to fly without motor at the slope, you would have to remove the additional weight.

The idea behind the "power pod" with motor shaft extension is a very quick "configuration change" without having to re-adjust the CG.
