Hi John,
My experience with the NiMh's indicate that if you use them you need to plan on one more cell than the equivalent Nicad pack as the sustained voltage they give up is lower. I'm loving the CP1700's and suspect you will to .
I have a Velkom 24/10 but got caught in the "Baby Aveox" trap after trying the 1015/1.5Y. I would be very interested in hearing about the 24/12 or 24/16 on 10 cells ..... as you say.... it could be an Embat killer (price wise). The skimpy rudder on the Estreak will keep it from performing like the Embat ..... otherwise it is a better looking model ( the Embat fuselage is fat by comparison, and it has a "stubby" nose ).
Best to you,
Ed

Hi Ed,

I'm on the verge of ordering the CP1700 from Germany at less than £2/cell (the option appears to be made up 10 packs at £38/pack + s&h). A Weller 40 is £17 from the bottom of the road (they come in Tuesday), and I can make up a double end soldering bit this week.

Providing the move is delayed another couple of weeks I could be flying with the 24/12 and the 24/16 on 10 very soon (motor change takes 5 minutes)

Best regards, John

Hi John,
If you build your packs, 4 on 4 horizontal [end to end soldered] with 2 cells vertical at the end the resulting pack is exactly the same size ...and... 20 grams lighter than an 8 cell [4X4 brick shaped] pack of 2400's . My Streak weighs 43.5 oz with a 10 cell pack of CP1700's.....if I leave the gear off.
Best to you,
Ed
