Galaxy/Cloud Models ME-163 Komet
Hey Guys,
I just found this one doing a search and was wondering if anyone has any experiance with it?? They claim in the description that it has good slow flying characteristics?? I find that hard to believe for a Komet. I have a Irvine 480 cobalt that needs a home. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Geeee |

Not a bad model. Flies OK, but a little heavy needs a good handlaunch.

Thanks Mark for the input. Nice paint job. When you say heavy, how heavy?? The ad does not give an all up weight. Also,by good hand launch, should I take that to mean running 10 ft. or so and then a solid throw??
Sincerely, Gregg |

Gregg,
Sorry can't really remember the weight. There wasn't much I could save on anyway. The wings are foam veneered and the fuz is a lite-ply profile frame with the two ABS sides glued around it. There was a good review in the EFI magazine in 2002 or 2001, which gave more details. Yes, a nice run up and a good throw will see it airborne. The fuz is an odd shape to hold - some rough sandpaper squares glued around the CG position make for an easier grip. Mark. Last edited by Mark Haigh; May 05, 2003 at 03:21 PM. |

OK, this is an old thread.....but for info, I'm building this exact kit. It's going to be powered by an AXI 2814/12 swinging a 9x6 or 10x6 prop (i've order both so I'll try them out in turn) with 1900 FAUP sanyo pack or 1800 nimh pack. Total weight should be in the 800g range, so it should go like er, a rocket!!
I think it will also be possible to make a take off dolly for this thing, to save handlaunching it. |
