I have Frsky and Dr8IIs. Never used any of the telemetry add ons, just bind and fly for me. Helpful ? :P

He is a tip though, crack rx open and make sure the antenna are connected well to the board. I have had one that had come loose and have read about a few others that have had the same problem. I always check now and usually throw a bit of hot glue on just to be sure.

Quite an easy job to fit all the fpv gear inside the fuse. This one doesnt have rth or autopilot so i pray for clean video before each flight. Only issue is the range with Frsky. Im getting a few beeps less than 500m away so this one might have to switch over to dragon link.
Have you checked your antenna connection? I have a 1W booster on my Frsky 9x.

Actually did you have a dodgy Frsky RX Hoppy?

I has jumper pins?? I use FrSky telemetry with the Bixler, unboosted range in conjunction with a 5.8G FPV vTXD is ~500m. Hence why I brought your 2.4G booster, I want a bit more range for my FPV

Range without a vTX (RC LOS) using the v8 one way has been tested out to over 2km.

You think to much TS, just bind and fly

I'll pull it apart and check the antenna. Wouldnt hurt to check it anyway as the first frsky module I got had solder in one of the connectors and couldnt be connected to the rf pins.

I have FrSky with telementry and is great. I bought one without telemetry for a mate and was busy so did not open the box before I gave it to him.

I saw the receiver just before it was ready to fly and the range check was really bad. He reakons that he did not do it but the end bits on the two wires (antenna) were cut off. We had LOL.

He reckons it must have came from HK like that. Just thought wonder if Customs have scissors. Anyway the antenna are cheap from HK now and that fixed the problem. We kept laughing about it for quite a while.

just keep in mind the frsky signal strength telemetry has signal latency beyond 2km and the latency increases exponentially, so make sure you have fail safe set up, something like have the fpv cam pan servo turned a little on FS, so you instantly know through the goggs if FS has kicked in, no matter how briefly (good practice on any setup really)
Thats a great tip. My failsafe has a lost model alarm and I heard it beep once about 20m away from me which was a bit of concern. Range test is fine but i'll be sure to check the rx antennas also the module before next flight.

Happy to report that I plucked up the courage to test RTH on the RVOSD last night and it worked flawlessly

Made it out 2.2km (only using omni's so far) then enjoyed the view as a passenger on the ride home and for the figure 8's overhead. Annoying that RVOSD fly's smoother than I do...

I'm not using FrSky for FPV, I have Rangelink UHF LRS for that.

With 900W on a slippery airframe like a Funjet, I reckon a LRS is a very good idea!
Look forward to some Funjet formation flying!

I pulled apart the Frsky rx and module and checked over the connections. The rx antennas do pull off very easy so some hot glue went on them. Can someone confirm is it just the last inch of the antennas that is active? Originally my antennas were just dangling out of the fuse but now ive mounted one flat and the other vertical. Did a quick flight test and it certainly has improved radio reception. I still get a few beeps but by looking at the google maps distance calculator im getting good reception out to 1km now. I might try the frsky patch antenna.

Roger, im more interesting in getting an RTH system on the funjet first. Could also use some stabilization too - if only my RVOSD didnt go for a swim!!! And definitely up for some funjet formation but you better not lead me into video blackout with your fancy antenna tracking "go anywhere" setup....
