This was about 15 years ago. No problems at all other than cosmetic damage. About 3-4 Small 12mm tears. During Spring the wedgies get quite aggressive. Some of the other regular XC hangies were carrying whistles. One guy even had a starters pistol to deter the wedgies.
A friend even had a head on midair collision with one that was swooping him and got it wrong.

I was once flying out at the local strip with a balsa spitfire when all of a sudden a big wedgie appeared outta know where dive bombing my plane. I tried to out run him and was not pulling away when he started to retract the wings and extend the talons to make a grab for my plane ... eeekkk!

I pulled a loop on him, then he realised i wasnt a bird and left me alone~

Pic i took one evening after flying~

It’s 2:25am in the morning and I just had an epiphany of how I could have narrowed the search area from my plane when I lost it.

My Sony Bloggie stopped feeding video to the Eagle Tree OSD which meant I not only lost video but also lost OSD. I do clearly remember though my screen and goggles gave a blank black picture, not static.

I was using a directional patch antenna. I could have driven to several locations and rotated the antenna. Using a compass and drawing lines on our Topo maps in the direction where static turned to a black screen. Where the lines intersected would have provided an approximate search area for my plane.

Oh Well. Too late now, I doubt I would have had much more than 30 minutes to get that done. That’s also providing the plane landed in that time.

Heres my latest clip. Last Sunday. I slope soared nearly 2 hours at Ochre Point.
The place was infested with Hang Gliders!
I picked a shady tree about half a mile away and set up shop, then mixed it with the guys. It was fairly light to start with, then got much better. I threw in a couple of scenes from a few days earlier at the same site.
NJOI!

that's so cool. i still haven't FPV'd a slope session yet.. now you've got me itching to try! i've been searching for a BAG. had my eye on the aeromaster, but just got told they may not produce any more. ending up getting a hk dg1000 2.6m to keep me going until i can find something in the 4m range.. cant wait to slope her!

I had an HK DG1000 2.6m. Be careful. As its scale, the tips are small and they tipstall. Also the fuzz is made from really shiny eggshell. Treat it like that. They dont like rough slope trashing.
I added a motor to mine, but unfortunately she didnt last too long.
Spun in and was totalled on a cliff face at Maslin Beach.
I had to do a cliff rescue to retrieve the wreck. Had to leave the motor as it was too risky to get to.
2.5m is a good size for FPV. Just pick something with a bit of room in the fuzz.
Bird of Time is becoming popular. Also Cularis.
Cheers
Frank

I got one of the turnigy servos mentioned in a thread that was meant to be 180 (think they were dmg933) but they must have changed stock cause they were like 130 at best..... So this is great news.
Thanks for sharing pete

Nice video Frank... that coastline is all very familiar to me, makes me want to go back and hang glide there again!
