heheh Yep! I am having a lot of fun with this. A complete fabrication - not kit for this one!!

But with the help you get from good people on these forums, it makes it a lot easier.

Hi Ian,
How are ther HMAC guys about you flying FPV at the field? Do they insist on buddy box and spotter?
I had given 2 show and tell presentations there last year and there was some interest.
One guy bought a setup but I havent heard whether its a going thing yet.
I live about 3 minutes from the field but am working unfortunately, so cant witness the event.
Good luck and watch out for the phone tower.
cheers
Frank

Hi Frank,

Yeah everything is cool at the club. I use the eyetops hence LOS all the time if necessary and keep within the boundaries. It is far from ideal for FPV with lack of scenery, towers of every kind etc.

I wasn't aware you have given talks at the club. I've been a member for many, many years but slope soaring was my passion and flew every chance at the slope in the conservation park before and after it became a park! You must live close to me. I have a place at HC but spend most time at Pt Elliot.

Nice 'copter Mongrel. Donít think I would like to get an ankle tap from that one. I've not look at that style of 'copter ever, but will educate myself because Iím now fascinated with what the control system must be like to keep those things where you want them!

Trying to keep with the spirit of the thread, I've put a short vid up from the weekend. 'FPV'.........well.......... some parts..........first minute was anyway . I'm finding the learning curve real steep at this point. Not helping myself by not having a spotter, so sort of keeping it in 'ears reach'. Wind isn't helping either, In the vid '25sec-1min25' (FPV bit) looks awful because in found myself fighting the co-pilot as the plane got bumped around in the wind, not something I've found myself doing 3rd person. Just not getting enough air time to smooth all this stuff out. It's always windy, and if it's not, it's been 40+ degrees. I had to take my video goggles off on this flight just due to the sweat building up in the rubber light block (well.... it's a @iss weak excuse but Iím gonna stick with it!)

I will order the Pan tilt to go with the EE off you today too Mongrel, that might give me the extra confidence I just donít have atm.

The NTSC camera is starting to bug me abit too, might start looking for a better one. It does the job for flying via the goggles, just looks crappy for playback. The Zeph is still awesome, new goggles are doing the job. Just got to get the pilot up to speed!

Cheers lads.

P.S. When are you going to get your bird in the air with vision KevAu? Still looking forward to that one.

Pan and Tilt - No problem - Just PM me what you need. I can also get some good cameras too.

Sorry missed your message...
The Fox itself is less then $200 with camera, tx & battery...
Let me know if you need more details, heaps of stuff in the last couple pages of the build thread.

For those living in Brisbane, where do you get your batteries from?
local or over the net?

Geoff,

Depends what you are looking for. If you want just run of the mill batteries that are not going to be smashed by some high powered EDF, then You would be hard pressed to find cheaper than Hobby City.

If you are looking for something of more quality like the Hyperion range, then you can find them in Aus at a reasonable price. I can get pretty good pricing on the Hyperion range if you end up at a loose end.

Cheers
