Anbody packed 2 x 5000 3's into a SW before?

Nice one Macca!

A friend squeezes 3x 3000 4S into his, seems to carry the weight ok... but he is using the bigger 1900 wing.

OK, there would be less than 200 gram difference between that and 2 x 3s 5000's. I'll give it a go tonight. It could well be a "look Mum, no hands...Doh!" moment

We've got a set of 1900 wings here but haven't built them yet. They do look like they would carry significantly more weight than the 1680's but it'll be interesting to see how much drag the drooped trailing edge creates?

Wow, good to know. I'll definitely give it a go then.

Reminds me of my old sig cougar. Crankshaft to crankshaft mid air with a closing speed of somewhere around 150mph. Scattered bit over more than 150 metres. Biggest piece was half a fuselage side with a motor bolted on the front. Broke cylinder head, and carby from my old fsr .40 , peeled the tuned pipe open like a tin can. Even tore tyres off the landing gear. Spent hours wandering around picking up confetti.
Was a nice plane too ...

Im saying Lots! in the wind it's not very efficient at all.
Get the wing loading right in the right conditions and I say it'd be better than std but overall the 1680 would come up trumps in my opinion.

Chris.

Reminds me of my old club days when we had a limbo competition at the field. Crepe-paper streamer tied between two vertical 8" long, 1" diameter dowels buried in the runway. First few planes came in perdictably low and slow, easily making it under the high streamer. One of the club guns was up next - grabed his fastest prop plane, and came screaming in from a high diving run at full throttle. Got low enough but misjudged the depth, and ploughed straight through the far dowel......

Predicable outcome spread over about 50 metres downstream of the dowel.

After the initial collective pained sigh from the onlookers, once the sniggering started, no-one could hold back.

Took about half an hour for many people to collect many many small fragments.

If you are going to have a big one, it might as well be in front of a good audience .....
