It's easy to run a 6400 on 2s lipo. You just need a diode in the BEC power connection to the reciever.

Pilatus Porter

Hi, here is my latest build, 21" wing span Pilatus Porter. AUW 41g with Turnigy 160mAh. I am using AR6400L and AR2000L for aileron.

Hi, I don't have exact plan for this, the frame and wing based on the P. Tritle plan on this page: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...pilatus+porter

Lovely!
I love that plane and your interpretation of it is just sweet! Do you have dual ailron servos (progammable flaps in option!)?

@Chrizz: I am using single aileron servo AR2000L as I have only 1 left. Been thinking about flap for this plane but later I decided not to go with it as I think the effect will not be significant for this size and at my place I can only do hand launch and grass landing.

@ara25demayo: I am using microlite from homefly.com, very light and worked great.

indoor aerobat

Hi
after my P51 bit the dust I decided to build an aerobat for indoor flying. I've used every last bit off the mustang including the torque rod setup and pushrods

construction is mainly from 2mm depron but I've added two 6mm pieces on the nose to act as a motor support and also to absorb some impact ;-)

the wing has a double thickness to 45% of the chord to act as a Kf aerofoil

it loops and turns on rudder very well but it could do with a better roll rate so I may fit another linear servo at some point and do away with the torque rod setup

it's very stable in flight. probably because of the large chord

wingspan 19"
weight 35g

One of these days, I need to take my hand at scratch-building!

Do you have any carbon on this plane? Can I see the underside?

I have a 2mm carbon rod let into the wing. Not sure if it's needed but better to be safe than sorry

For those of you which liked the 20" model of the 56" Champion Stampe kit.
Here is the video.

Nice Stampe, taildragger1589.

I built the 20.5" 3 channel Falcon Models 2mm depron Easy Scale Stampe a while ago, and have been taking it to indoor fly-ins. It's around 42g AUW, with a 240mAh Hyperion G3 cell.

I used a Vapor brick with a small 5 or 6g 4600Kv brushless motor using a 1s ESC on the rudder channel (spare pads) and a mix on my DX6i to put it on the throttle stick - the onboard servos are on the elevator and aileron channels on the Vapor brick.

I haven't posted any pictures because it's not made with an AR6400, though the Vapor brick has a lot in common. It was attacked by a Parkzone UM Corsair at the last fly-in, and had its motor mount sheared in two, but it's feeling better now. Maybe I should take some pictures before something worse happens to it.

Falcon Models Easy Scale Stampe (brushless, single cell, with a Vapor brick)

Okay. Here it is.

Most or possibly all of the Falcon biplanes seem like a good choice for an AR6400. The original Falcon gear made them a bit heavier. My Stampe is nice and slow, much more indoorsy than my 4-Site.

Thrust from the 4600Kv 5g or so motor on a single cell and a 4025 prop isn't that great - a lot less than 1:1, but there's enough power to make it fly nicely. I could probably have got similar performance with an SU-26 motor and geabox, and about the same duration, I'm not sure. It's a bit heavier than my SU-26 biplane conversion, but feels a bit more powerful and stable and it seems to fly slower.

I bought the Vapor brick from www.MicronRadioControl.co.uk and asked them to supply it with the trailing servo socket on channel 4, to connect the ESC, because my soldering skills aren't that good and my hands aren't steady enough to do anything that small.

I've fitted the 240mAh single cell Hyperion lipo in these pictures - hiding behind the motor mount, on Parkzone UM style velcro.

I seem to have disguised most of the scars and prop cuts in these photos, without trying to. It's collected quite a few already. In the Stampe vs Corsair incident, the square part of the motor mount separated between the layers of plywood, and the top wing broke away from the fuselage. I fixed both with some UHU POR. There doesn't seem to have been any other damage though, apart from a bit of a crease in the depron near the nose.
