Yes -- the first version was rigged to be triggered to record by security camera triggers. The new version will remove these triggers and instead implement audio -- and should also come with the cables to connect video and audio.

I think there should be a format function in one of the menus on the Baru, or you should be able to format it via the USB connection if not.

That sounds like exactly what I am looking for...and within my rapidly diminishing budget

Great, thanks for the info. I'm glad to hear that, because the power cord for the computer is nowhere to be found and the battery is dead. I'll go ahead and install the drive into the Baru and hopefully find a way to format it there.

This one is very comparable with the PV500 Recorder at an excelent price. I just bought one.

or does it require ntsc format?

Will make the tests, I just bought it 2 days ago, they said it will arrive in 24hours, but nothing yet. As soon it arrives to me I will give all the info I can about it.
