What should I do? What would you do in a situation like this?

I sold a CX3 bnf heli on ebay a few days ago. I was getting ready to ship it out today but I got an email from paypal saying that they (paypal) were going to remove the money that I got from the buyer for the heli. Paypal said they were removing the money from my account because there was a complaint on the buyers account that the transaction wasnt authorized and there is now an investigation on the buyer's account. I didnt ship the item today because of this email.

I contacted the buyer through ebay and buyer said that paypal was confused about my account and that is why they sent the message.

I know thats not right. The message I got from paypal says that the buyer's account is being investigated.

I responded to the buyer's message and said that I wanted to wait a few days to see if paypal clears this up.

I then got a responce from the buyer saying that his paypal account had been limited and that he had supposedly sent the correct information to paypal in an email. The information he sent is supposed to get his account unlocked.
This message is what confuses me, because he said that it was my paypal accounts fault that the money was withdrawn from my account but in this message he says that his account is the one that is having problems and has been limited. Plus it doesnt match up with the report I got from paypal which said that his account is the one that is under investigation.

This guy only has 51 feedback points but they are all positive. Should I trust him and wait out the paypal problem? What would you guys do? This is the first time I have had problems with a buyer on ebay. If you guys want the exact messages we extanged I can make copies and post them. (If that is not against forum rules?)

I would make a quick call to Paypal and talk to someone in charge, and explain your situation.

Don't ship out anything till you get the "all clear" signal from Paypal, just my 2 cents!

Ok, I'll give them a call tomorrow. Dont worry I wont be shipping anything out until I get this thing sorted out. Now I know why everyone always complains about ebay and paypal.

Yup, forget aboot it. I once tried to buy a quite expensive item from an ebay shop. Payed with paypal. Then paypal refunded me saying the store refused paiment. I got a mail from the store saying paypal ordered them to give the money back (duh!) and they now wanted me to pay through an unknown escrow service. I quickly stopped every contact with them. And now their ebay shop is gone.

Better safe than sorry dude...

Yup, you are thinking right. You currently have not been paid so there is no reason to ship the item. This buyer has done nothing to earn your trust.

One needs to be their own advocate when dealing with that company.

As a buyer I run my transactions through my Credit Card and then just transfer the funds to the card at the end of the day unless it is something I'm buying from a known trusted trader that I've dealt with prior. Then I will use an instant transfer from any existing balance and/or my checking account.

If you have a balance in your account PayUpPal WILL use that first even if you choose your CC as the funding source. Now before I pay I start the transfer process for any positive balance as to bring my account to zero then the full payment goes to the card. This gives me the option of a Chargeback for the full amount should PayUpPal try to take me for a ride. They know this and it has helped me reach a quick resolution twice when items were not received. My money was returned to the card within 30-days in both cases and one seller even printed the shipping label to make it look good for him. However, I proved the PO recorded the item as never being received for shipment.

Scammers are always coming up with new ideas!

Yeah I think ending it is the best option. How would I cancel the guys bid so I don't have to send it to him?

I dont think you have to end the deal dont ship until the money is in your bank account and out of paypal's greedy paws. Get proof of shipping so that if he tries to say you didnt ship you will have the proof you need.

I would rather just end it. If he wants it again he can bid on it. how do you cancel bids after the auction ends?

You cant. I'm not sure what the policy is for a non paying bidder but that's where I would start to look. Did your auction specify the type of payment that you accept or the time frame in which the buyer has to pay?

bwalt may be correct but I do remember canceling a Feebay transaction but it was a long time back. I found the information needed through the Feebay Community Forums.

Seems I had to use a link that contacted the buyer and asked them to agree so that may be a catch in this case? In my case the buyer got so rapped up in bidding that he couldn't stop submitting bids and drove the price way out of line. Turned out it was an older gent with a very bad case of impulse purchasing and he was just learning about Feebay. Poor guy would probably be a train-wreck at a casino.

No unfortunately I didnt specify a time frame for payment but I will from now on when it comes to fleabay.

Should i just send the guy a message saying that I wont ship it to him because payment is taking to long? The guys already been "refunded". By refunded I mean ebay is still holding the money and doesnt seem to want to give it back any time soon.
