Yes, correct. I was going to use channel 5, but have not done that yet. Possible use is gain controll or throttle lock.

I understand the diagram, but how does that equate to transmitter control?

In ver 2 schematics you showed 4 channel input from transmitter.
Roll(aileron) Pitch (Elevator) Yaw(rudder) collective(Throttle). Now you show only Roll , Collective & Aux. How are yaw and and pitch controlled from the transmitter and what is Aux used for?

Ken
I do not know how to explain it without going totally Nerdy(tm), but trust me, it works

Start up Problem ..

hello ken, bravo .. you are great , i love your design .

and i thank for sharing your valuable information through forum

i have built the hardware v2 which you shared , i have programmed the chip also, the board is not responding , i have 6 questions

1) is this version is made only for futaba
2)is it compatible with atmega8 or atmega168
3)which software you used for coding
4) how did you set the fuses and 8Mhz internal clock for atmega48
5) When we powerup what will be the led indication
6)how do you tune the quadrotor gain that is how do you set the initial pot values

please help me , i wont sleep with out the first flight

1: No, all recievers with sequential output can be used. However the channel order might must be changed. What reciever do you have?

2: For V2: yes and yes.

3: AVR Studio 4.

4: In the "fuses" tab in the AVRISP dialog. Select "int RC osc 8MHz + 64ms" and uncheck "CKDIV8".

5: The led will be dark until throttle have been at low for 2 secs. When it is on, it is ready for flight. If it does not go on, lower the trim and/or increase the lower endpoint/ATV.

6: Initial pot values is in the middle. Increase until it starts to oscillate rapidly, then back of until it is stable again. Fast forward flight needs lower gain.

Too low gain is recognized by hard to control and/or always want to tip over.

Start with roll/pitch endpoint/ATV at 50%.

Always remove the propellers when testing! It is hard to keep track of 4 propellers

I am sorry if this has been answered before
but will a regular futaba receiver work or must
it be PCM?

a few phrases

Kaptain,

I have read your tread on rcgroups from your quadcopter and I want to build one.
But I have some questions:

Can I use any ATmega microcontroller mit any frequence ?
What microcontroller adaptor can I use?Can I use the Atmega microcontrolleradapter from this site ? : http://www.lancos.com/siprogsch.html Are the connections the same by all the ATmega micorcontrollers?
When I connect then the adaptor to the micorcontroller and install ponyprogram it should work?
I want to use the program V2 but what is the right program(the HOLE program)? In the file that I can download there are many programs and I don't now what the right is.

Sorry for the bad English I am a student from Belgium.

Thanks Lowie Lobbestael from BELGIUM

AFAIK using PPM or PCM doesn't matter.
As long as it talks in a sequential way to the channels and Futaba gear does it.

Hello Lowie,

Kaptain probably has more info, but here is what I used, and it has worked great for me so far (in the process of completing the board....)

You can use a programmer from here:

http://www.ladyada.net/make/usbtinyisp/

Works quite well for programming almost all of the atmel chips...

You can also make it work with AVR studio, by following the instructions here:
http://www.ladyada.net/make/usbtinyi...500compat.html

Very easy to put together, and it worked for me great the first time. You can also get something like this:
http://www.adafruit.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=174

So all you need to do is place the chip on it, program it, and off you go..the USB programmer above also supplies the power!

You can then follow the instructions posted here with the V2 version of the software to program the chip.

Hope this helps you out...

another question:

In the schematic are all the speedcontrollers connected with VCC and GND but speedcontrollers give all 4 : 4,8V but you need ownly once 4,8 V VCC and not 4 times ?

I am not already sure about the program adaptor.
I want to use ponyprogram, what program adaptor I need ?(Have enyone a schematic from the connections )

Thanks Lowie

thanks for your valid information ken,

will the existing code will work for atmega168 wiht v2 hardware or we have to make any modification in the code so that the hardware will work , and please help me in setting 8Mhz internal clk with fuses for atmega168 , im using phony prog, and my burner is not compatible with avr studio

quaddynamics,

Google is YOUR BEST friend! :-)

Have a look here:

http://electrons.psychogenic.com/mod...HOWTOGuide.php

A great discussion, as well as how you can set fuses, to use the internal clock of the chip, as compared to using an external crystal.....VERY detailed, and they describe the process for whatever chip you have....no AVR studio needed....you can use avrdude command line like this (as an example):

$ avrdude -c stk500 -p m8 -P /dev/ttyS0 -U lfuse:w:0xEC:m

so basically, once you know what byte your chip needs, and what is it's value, it will write it, and make it use the internal clock..anyway, read the whole thing, and you will see what this is about....

Ready for another good link??? (again...GOOGLE to the rescue!)

http://www.engbedded.com/fusecalc/

THis is an AVR fuse caluclator! It will help you to determine the bits, without having to page through the data sheets!! Neat huh?

Hope this helps you out!

Btw, a Arduino can be used as a programmer as well.
That's the use I've been giving to mine.
