Ok, jokes over. Who designed this thing?
Just coz u put a set of wings on an ANVIL doesn't mean it will fly!
I had to put 300 grams of lead up front to get it to balance just evenly at 9cm from the leading edge at the fuse. If this is on par with anyone elses plane i'd love some reassurance. All that lead......and an ASP 61 four stroke. Not the most powerful motor on what must be the heaviest spitfire in that size.
I hope the retracts hold the plane up.
I hope my legs hold me up.

It's an early mark spitfire... Par for the course.

The only warbird known to be more difficult to balance is the Hawker Typhoon!

Not wanting to sound twee at all you understand.

I am VERY interested in your comments however as I too am intending to fit an ASP 61 FS.

When is your maiden planned?

Hugh

PS. Where are you located Macca?

We were all thinking it, but none of us were going to stoop that low

Now that is impressive...

Hope I can find some way to avoid that sort of Balancing act.

Cheers,

Hugh

I'm hoping theres enough power in that motor to keep the weight of this plane in the air.
Weather permitting, the maiden will be saturday or sunday morning, at Marcs in Laverton north.
Will let u know how it goes.

This plane is by far my most frequent flyer these days. Took me a while to get the radio settings fine tuned. Started off hating the way this plane flew, but now love it. Love it.

lol.. yeah. These CMP are just heavy! But they're built solid.. you're very lucky to have a private field!

I decided to drive up to my old flying field and meet up with some friends.. I got some video of the Spit as well as a few others.. I'll post them as soon as the upload finishes..

Wow... a 16lb Jet!

My clubs field is almost designed for Large scale planes.

It's a private GA strip owned by a rather well off farmer. He lets us use it provided we keep the gates closed (and try not to freak his cattle out too much).

We had a 16 Lb jet take off from the grass the other day!

Some of our members scale warbirds are 80" plus...

Cheers,

Hugh

PS, I will certainly be trying to keep my Spit down under 7 Lb.

You wouldn't believe the restrictions! It almost takes all the fun away.. But it makes sense (I think anyway.. )

The field borders a large hiway and the surrounding area is heavily populated. The membership fee is reasonable though, so I think i'll join just to have a field to get my little foamy fixes in between weekends.

Still..a 60mph speed limit??

Alrighty guys...

Here are a couple vids. One is the CMP Spit.. the other is my CMP Zero.. both conversions and they're both 50 sized.

Pardon some of the language.. It was a HORRIBLE day to fly.. winds were... bad! But I really wanted to fly my spit.

CMP Spitfire (5 min 20 sec)

CMP Zero (3 min 54 sec)

How do they enforce the speed limit?

I guess you'll have to see how fast you can make a ultra micro go!

Very nice landing on the spit in those strong winds!

I broke my tail wheel today. The metal rod broke right as it enters the plastic brace. Dang. Is anyone using after-market tail wheels?
Any ideas?
