My canopy fell off flying over a tall grass field, and could not be found.

Anyone know here to get a replacement ?

Big disadvantage to some brands of ARFs. No replacement parts. Try to find another .40-.50 sized spitfire that offers them and maybe it will work. Good luck, sir!

SJ,

I have a new canopy from my spare kit that I didn't use when I rebuilt after my first crash. But I've never shipped anything to Europe before. It'd probably cost a fortune and probably be better to just get another kit from your local distributor.

Hmmm....Did you buy it from a Danish retailer or get it shipped from abroad. When I lost my assembly manual I contacted the distributor in the UK, J Perkins, they kindly sent me a new one, maybe worth an ask......

Good luck, John

SJ,

Do you want me to look into sending my canopy out to you? Get you a shipping price, see if it's doable?

Hi guys..........just had my second flight with this plane and while it flew nice, landings once again proved challenging. I've bent my oleo struts at the root. Has anyone else done this, and is it as simple as bending them back again or am i up for a new set?
Thanks for any advice.
Michael

May as well keep bending them back until they snap, THEN get a new set.

Word of advice, don't just grab and bend. Unscrew your retract mount from the plane and then do it, otherwise you run the risk of tearing the gear attachment runners out of your wing. That would suck!

Thanks mate. As it turns out, whats bent are the removable pins that join the oleo strut to the hobbyking electric retracts. I've simply removed the pins, and i'll go and order a handful to be engineered so that i can replace them immediately at the field when needed.

While i've only had 2 flights with this plane, i cant describe how spectacular it looks flying dead level and a foot above the long grass at the edge of our field strip, with the harley sound of an ASP 61. Very impressive!

I damaged the monokot of my Spit by moving it around. Anyone knows the color code or the monokot and where to order it ? Or is it spray painted in factory ??

Thanks

Mat

Hello Matt,
I believe it's covered with "ULTRACOTE" and probably painted at the factory. Some of the other guys may be able to confirm that though.
Best...

If anyones' still hanging around this thread -
I'm embarrassed to admit it but, I still have not maidened my CMP Spit. Last time I took it out the sliding canopy blew off during pre flight run up. Since then it's been relentlessly hot and windy. Just recently the weather is becomming flyable again and the canopy problem seems okay but now one of the main gear e-tracts is malfuntioning. I relaced it with a another and it malfuntions too.
Soon as I can figure out the problem I'll post the results of the maiden test flight.....with video if possible.

Don't give up on me yet.

Hope all have enjoyed a safe and happy summer flying season.
