Can you break in a motor with an esc already attached?

I have a s400 with a Sigesc20 already soldered on...

I would like to break in the motor...

Should I remove the esc? ...or just connect a 1.5 v AA cell directly to the motor terminals, and don't worry about hurting the esc???

I'd play it safe and remove the ESC.

if you ESC has a BEC it will not run because the voltage is to low
it wint hert the ESC but the motor wont run so you have to eather take the ESC off or find a way to by pass it ( maybe you can fit an aligader clip behind the ESC and conet the batterys right to the motor termanals

Couldnt you plug in the regular battery pack and use a receiver to control the ESC to run the motor at a slow speed? Just make sure it nothing gets too hot and set a timer up to remind you to turn it off.

Thanks Guys! I think Shane has the best answer for THIS problem...

I can break in the motor at low-voltage, just by using the ESC to lower the voltage for me... i.e., just throttle the TX to low speed, no prop, and let it run...

Now, why couldn't I think of that!?

Thanks again!
