I'm using the NTM 28 x 30 motors on my current tricopter. Im happy with them. Don't forget to order the accessory package for the motor as they come with nothing. The former is a bigger motor with a bit more torque but the wattage goes up with that so they're a bit hungrier.
You could use the good old DT 750. No prop adapters etc needed with GWS 11 x 47 props.
I used to use a standard size servo on my earlier tri's. Pretty hard to wreck in a crash compared to a 9 grammer.
You can mount it in the main frame and run a push rod to a crank at the end of the tail boom to keep the weight forward.
I think there's some pics on my blog here at RCG.
Have a look at "Tricopter builders"on Facebook there's a few examples of others builds there for some ideas.
Post some pics for us as you build so we can give you a hard time.......sorry I mean help you out lol

Good luck

Ian

My tri has never flown as well with the KK board as it did with gyros. I'll probably be switching back and chunk the KK into the trash.

I agree Gyro was the best. I have one tri flying with KK now, its pretty good but still not perfect. I am also having problems with multiwii. Gyros were nice and simple. Lucky I kept them

I know what you mean John. Sometimes multiwii does my head in too.
Most of my struggles have been caused by resonance. I'm extremely happy with the way my tri is flying now but it took a
long time to crack it. That gyro tri was a dream but we gotta keep buggering about with stuff ......will never learn !!

Also tried it on a quad with the same results. There is no way to get rid of the constant rocking. Even when the pots are so low that the bird is very unstable it still rocks.

Are you using a helicopter 1 servo swash mix in your radio or an acrobatic ( aeroplane mix )
Not that it makes much difference to the constant rocking.
I couldn't get my tri to fly well without using the heli mix. Even then the last one I made with an HK KK V3 board was still
rocking around. Still flying arduino with Nintendo bits.
Anyone using the KK2 with LCD ?

OK. I have it in acro mode, no mixing. How did the heli mix help you?
