Possible Flying Sites in Westlage/Thousand Oaks/Oak Park Area
I am flying currently in Oak Park at the High School most of the time, but the field is so many times already reserved for other groups and I am desperately driving around to find another one.
It would be great if we could compile a list of possible and safe flying sites around Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks and Oak Park.
So I far I flew with my PZ T-28, L-39, F-35, F-15 and Super Cub at the following coordinates (copy and paste coordinates into Google Maps or Google Earth):
34°10'58.99"N 118°45'47.18"W Oak Park School
Problem: Field is always locked
34°10'40.94"N 118°45'58.24"W Oak Park High School
Problem: Field is reserved for other sports
Good: Field is mostly empty on Sunday's. Great length for
long takeoff and landing
34°10'37.60"N 118°46'53.86"W Oak Park,
Problem: Field is very tiny. Hard landings due to many trees.
34°11'6.03"N 118°45'28.19"W Oak Park
Good: Long field, empty during day.
Problem: Tricky side winds
crashed 2 planes there, due to the wind.
Tricky landing, due to surrounding trees and houses.
I researched on the AMA website, what clubs are in my area and found these possible flying sites, but haven't test them yet:
N34.199305 W118.942805 Casa Conejo near the Target
N34.1209 W118.7509 Paramount Ranch - Old horse track
34°10'18.74"N 118°45'57.36"W Oak Park, field looks big, but lots of houses around.
