One detail I failed to mention previously is that we have incorporated the same g10 landing gear plate reinforcement that we used in the Extra EXP. We've had a lot of good feedback from customers on this feature as it has prevented many torn out landing gear mounts.

Currently I'm flying the 45" EF Edge 540 (blue/yellow) with a Torque 2818/900 on 3S and I'm happy with the performance. Would performance drop in comparison on the new 48" Edge if I transferred over this power system?

Trying to keep 3S since I'm using the same batteries between Trex450 and the Edge but might consider 4S since HC prices are so low.

BTW - The 45" Edge is my favorite throw-in-the-car plane. I can't believe how durable it has been and is easy to repair - even after several mishaps. Looking forward to the new Edge with more elevator travel and foiled stabilizer surfaces.

bruce, glad to hear you are still enjoying your Gen 1 Edge.
3S will fly the new Edge, but 4S is really the way to go. Although the span is only 3 inches more than the original version, the Edge EXP is quite a bit bigger over all and was designed with 4S set-ups in mind. HC batteries definitely make it much easier to move up to 4S and I have had excellent results with their product.

I'm flying my new Edge 540 with 4cells and the Reaper Brushless Gr-35 what a blast...

ive been flying the extra on the 2818-900 and it has pleanty of power. Is there a noticable difference flying the lower kv motor?

Like to ask about the knife edge coupling on the Edge?My Extra EXP does'nt have coupling in knife edge flight maybe because they are all in the thrust line.How about the Edge?It looks like it has a higher wing position as you mention and I notice on both colors that they have different landing gear position.

lowdonkey, the 2814/820 is not only a lower Kv motor, but also 6mm longer and produces a little bit more power.
Micronics, the Edge is also coupling free in knife edge. Good eye on the landing gear. The pictures of the red/black/yellow Edge are of the very first prototype in which we used a carbon gear that we had in stock from another larger model and as such we had to mount it deeper in the fuselage. The red/white/blue model has the actual production landing gear.
