Raptor 50 V2 more like a .60 or .30 size ?

I'm considering upgrading this summer from my Shuttle ZXX.
Found the Raptor 50 V2 as an interesting piece (and in my pricerange)

As I understand, it isn't many differences from the 30-size. But having a
larger rotordisc, more powerfull engine etc...

Is it closer to a 60 size heli, or still just a bold 30-size ?

The engine PRO-50H. Anyone with an experience of this engine ?
Or is OS 50 a safer bet ?

Err somewhere in between but perhaps a little more like a 30 on steroids
than a sixty

Dunno about the Pro-50, use a Webra 50 myself, plenty of power, reliable and
no fiddling.
Pal of mine had a OS50 in his and that had plenty of power too.

I'm just a bit scared of the TT engines after reading much crap about them
beein sometimes impossible to tune.

Well if the new 70 and the new 39 from TT are anything to go by, I'd go buy
a 50 ANYTIME. not a bleat from either of the latest two TTT motors I've
played with lately and they're both superbly powerful AND easy to set
up/run/use.

I can't see the Pro 50 being anything like the original TT 36.

Yeah.
I've been watching that "TT is superb"-kinda topic, and it gave me some
trust to the TT engine.

It's just that I've always been that OS-guy, and not fiddled with anything
else in my Heli's.

Recently I built a Kysho Nitro Car kit, and found their GS-21R engine to be
very tunable. It handles big "off-positions" on both needles, and I find it
easy to get a stable idle and peak.

Maybe it's time to take a step over to TT in my upcomming Raptor 50 this
summer.

That's been OS's saving grace, coz power certainly isn't. The TT have both
the ease of use AND the power.

I'd take the chance Tor. The cost of the engine is worth the gamble, but I
don't think it IS a gamble anymore.

Re: Raptor 50 V2 more like a .60 or .30 size ?

I'll take the bet.

But do I understand you right ?
A TT50 would produce more power than a OS 50 ?

I can certainly understand that when comparing 30-size engines, and OS32 had
to fight against TT 36 and TT 39, the TT was winning on the powerside. But I
figured it was all in the numbers. That is being a slightly bigger engine,
producing slightly more power.

But if I get you right, you say that the two equal size engines TT will win
in power.
Well there's another reason to go for the cheaper engine, TAT.

I'm not sure about that one Tor, (it's the same capacity as the OS engine,
where the other new "mini motor" from TT is a 39 wheeas the OS is a 32.

I certainly wouldn't think it was LESS powerful thant he OS though, but
hopefully it'll be a bit )lot) better in regard to fuel consumption. The OS
is a hog for juice.

There's certainly a "numbers" element to consider, but the 39 appears to be
more powerful than the capacity increase alone would indicate.

Even if they're identical in power output, there's the cost difference and
the possiblitly of better fuel econmy (longer flight times per tamkk really)
with the TT. It certainly can't be worse than the OS.

But that can also be in a counterpart. Less fuel is also less lubrication
and cooling.

Sure hope not. I'll think it's worth a try. Just need the summer to come a
bit closer so the paycheck will enhance a bit.
(Currently a student with parttime job, but increasing work-time as
coworkers leave for holiday and I take their position and paycheck)
A Raptor 50 V2 with the TT50 is definitely on my summer budget this year.

Which COULD be a good thing if you fly at great altitudes or in deserts, but
I don't think either of them are in Norway:-) And although you have a point,
no engine should need as much fuel as the OS sucks in order to keep it cool.
Like I said, it's a hog, it's not just "thirsty". The same heli (X-cell 46)
with a Webra 42AAR runs 5 minutes longer on the same tank.

Hope for a GOOD summer then :-)) And order from Cyberheli or Skyline Models
for an even better price than you'll get in Norway.

I hope you enjoy 'em too :-))
