Hobby Lobby F-5E Tiger Swiss with E-Flite Delta V 15 & BL15 Inrunner

Yes okay, this may not be the Rocket combo set that many have raved about in past posts at other HL F5E threads but, this is "my" attempts to try out the power system that is coming STOCK with the new Park Zone Habu EDF Jet, the very first EDF for Park Zone.

After viewing many videos of that Habu EDF the performance and cost effectiveness was something that caught my attention and hopefully some of you as well. Certainly, the Habu is totally different airframe but, in my opinion the Habu is larger at 36.3 inch wing span thereby a little draggier, and heavier than the StarMax F-5E.

To see the performance that the E-Flite Delta V 15 and E-Flite BL15 provides then, please see this video:
Parkzone Habu EDF (1 min 34 sec)

For those interested in the Habu and more additional information:

Here's a detailed interview of Park Zone rep during the i-hobby event:

Weigh-In data!

I have taken out my STOCK StarMax F-5E (Hobby-Lobby distributor) from my new F-5E FUSE and assembled my new Park Zone Delta V 15 & BL15 inrunner combo that I bought for a cool $75.00 cash:

RCGroups deal thread at:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1132989

Okay, it was very easy to assemble the E-Flite Delta V 15 fan unit and the BL15 was a drop in fit like a glove.

Results from the Weigh-In was as follows:

StarMax F-5E Tiger STOCK EDF Unit: 5 3/4 oz.

E-Flite Delta V 15 & BL15 EDF Unit: 6 3/4 oz.

Those Delta V's are great motors, I have the 65mm on 4s in the T38 you saw the other day. When do you think your F5e will be ready to fly? I'm putting a 70mm Storm motor in mine on 5s. I may have it ready in a week or two.

Well, I am working on my F-5E right now and estimate by next weekend and will bring it out to "our" RC Club then, weather permitting

Yes, indeed I believe your T38 is the fastest little Foamie jet at the RC Club! Wicked speed!!

Well, you might as well keep it the way you have it because I am not going to hurry my mod in the least (not saying that you did ask me to hurry) as I have to wait until I have addtional funds for another Spektrum RX and converting over to all Metal Gear servos, etc...etc...

Plus, I am ordering some 4-Cell, 3000mAH, 20C, Li-POLYs for adaquate power deliver to the E-Flite EDF power system and it will take a few days for delivery.

That's the reason why I posted the Flight Video of the new Park Zone Mabu EDF model as it comes with the identical E-Flite EDF power system. If Videos is not enough then, nothing is.

I primarily selected the E-Flite EDF Power system because of customer service, price and parts replacement availability.

Certainly, the STOCK is fine.

One thing to take in to consideration before testing....your set up is going to be turning 400 Kv more than the Habu's system. Seems HH has downed the Kv, 3200 Kv, on the new Delta motor, the old one is turning 3600 Kv.

The motor I bought New-In-Box and the seller was kind enough to include the bill of sale from Horizon Hobby has a part number

EFLM3015DF

and can be found right here:
http://www.e-fliterc.com/Products/De...dID=EFLM3015DF

Just like the one that comes with the Mabu EDF Jet that is coming soon, both motors even though they differ in Kv slightly have a maximum input operating range of nothing over 4-Cell, Li-POLYs as you can see from the link here.
http://www.e-fliterc.com/Products/Te...dID=EFLM3015DF

Nope, 4-Cells will be enough power.

Oh, by the way, the inrunner that comes with the Mabu EDF Jet is:

Kidding right?

I am currently flying the F-5E, Mini fan Pro
with 6S + Typhoon EDF-2W-25 900W motor (KV : 2660)
and nothing to write home about it.
Max Speed is about 90-100mph due
to the draggy airframe but vertical performance is spectacutar.

Holy Cow!!! I just ran up the Storm 70 motor with the Eagle Tree logger and got 2100 watts at 122 amps.
According to their specs, that should give about 4.5lbs thrust. The AUW with battery is 3.25lbs. I know this airframe is draggy, but this thing should do at least 100mph maybe more.

The maiden went off without a hitch. Flew ok, but it didn't have the speed I wanted. The logger showed only 70mph with 2000watts and 120amps. Anyway, on the second flight I used a 4000mah 40c zippy battery. Taxied to the end of the runway and started my takeoff run. About halfway down the runway, I throttled up and BANG!!! The motor exploded right in front of me,. Almost blew the jet in half. I'll post pictures later.
