Direct 280 plane good for 12 yr. old?

I'm looking for a plane for my son. He's 12 and flies my Zagi 400x quite well. The problem is the wing span for launching. A Direct 280 looks to be a good size for him and appears to be durable.

Basically I'm looking for something durable, can fly in some wind and a little shorter wing span than the Zagi.

Any opinons on the Direct 280 or another suggestion would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Skeet, how about a Mini Speed Wing or Mini Twin?

About the only thing more fun to fly than a Zagi. More durable than a Direct 280 or a 400X. I know that's saying a lot, you have to see it to believe it.

Do a search on both, not a bad thing to be found about either one. And lots of good reviews.

I just go a direct 280, and it flies really well. The only problem is that is is really quick, and the throws on it are killer. When it rolls, it won't roll back, it stays where you put it! Not what I'd call easy flight, but definitely aerobatic.

Thanks for the advice Basketcase. I went with the Mini Speed Wing. My son likes it alot and has no problem flying it. He said he prefers it over the Zagi.

I assembled it with the electronics & servos on top with the battery on the bottom. It went together quite easily, the hardest most time consuming part is the taping.
