got a few things done and moving forward although still a long way to go.

Work has started once more on this brute!!
Work commitments etc have slowed this build to a crawl but over the coming weeks the build should start to gather pace!!!
As soon as i get my camera cord found i will upload some more pics to show the progress!!

Ice melting here so now i need to get my act together for my goal of sea trials in April!!

I found that sanding an filling took a lot longer than i had expected!! That hull looks wicked Derek !!

watching your build has convinced me that two props is enough for this ship......keep the cost down and plenty of power looking at your build, which i am really enjoying by the way.

Yep my monster is a rocket!! Did the Renown have 4 props or 2 ? Shop around for em' U might be able 2 get something for a similar sized ship eg 1/96 scale KG V type battleship shaft set that might suit the job. I got my shafts & props as a set from GT Sitek in UK they R supposed 2 be for a Type 23 Frigate but they R just right for Long Beach ( I do miss my lost prop still though!!)

She had 4 but as of right now i need to do it on the cheap and can always add the other two at a later date, also the radio control will only be 2 channel for starters.
I just want her moving in the water!!!your build has given me the urge to 'get on with it!'

Easy then! set her up for 4 but only install the 2 outer shafts, but put in all the holes for inner shafts except the 1's threw the hull!!

Not too much to report but getting motivated and i have been working out a few details.
One being the actual area on the decks around the secondary armament which was the steel deck with the teak boards removed.

I'd say put the stuffing tubes in now while you are still under construction. You can fill them full of wheel bearing grease till the day comes when you want to add the other shafts and props.

I agree with Greenboat, my Bismarck has all three tubes installed. I run the outer two and have a shaft with prop in the center with a shaft collar holding it in place.

I agree with you guys that putting the shafts in ready for later on is a better idea, and thanks for the input!!

Quick update today on a few things......just wish i could print out the turrets and call them done!!!!

Derek motor wise I would go for 2 of the big Graupner 900's like I have in USS Long Beach they will move that beastie of yours no problem at all even on 12 volts! On Sunday Long Beach showed off her speed against 4 different warship models and trounced Em' (on 12v too!!)
You could set the motors up 2 drive all 4 shafts (even if U don't fit all shafts at once) they have plenty of torque for the job! Just run slightly larger props when running only 2 shafts, then when you fit all 4 go for 4 scale size props'

You should contact the 1/72nd guys in Australia, they have a 1/72nd Hood, maybe they could supply you with turrets??

yep you got it!! 1/87 she is........but, i have an excellent scale drawing of a british 15inch gun turret and i ONLY have 3 to build so not the end of the world.
Getting the local school to make me 6 barrels as a project hopefully to, so at least i am not building HMS Agincourt with 7 turrets!!!
although just ordered a book on her as she seems a really interesting ship..14x12inch guns
