434 MHz video transmitter knocks out 433 MHz remote trigger
I have my camera set up for pole photography.
Got a 434 MHz video transmitter sending the video out signal from camera to pocket TV Got a 433 MHz receiver (Phottix Cleon) on the camera to trigger. Cleon transmitter at the base of the pole Photo's: http://www.flickr.com/photos/antonputtemans/4056845516/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/antonputtemans/4053374179/ I can't use the Cleon when the video transmitter is broadcasting, even when not connected to the video out port. When I hold the video transmitter 3 foot away from the Cleon receiver it works. Why is that and what can I do about it, apart from dangling a 3 foot video cable with the video transmitter down the pole? |

Its because the video transmitter is deafening the trigger receiver because it is basically the same frequency and very close proximity. The trigger receiver will be sensitive to any RF close to 433/434 and it's hearing a huge signal due to the proximity. (RF power drops-off very quickly with range) I don't think any amount of amount of clever FR filtering would help.
There is really no solution other than to separate the items as you say. |

Yup, this is the same classic problem when people try and use the same (or close) frequencies such as 2.4Ghz for the up and down tasks. The down Tx is totally drowning the (relatively) weak upward signal...

What they just said.
I would switch to a conventional RC based control set up for the camera. I use 434 MHz down link on mt 40ft mast with an RC TX for camera control. Never a hickup. |

Hi Anton, I am just using a standard RC RX and a servo trigger but there are plenty of options out there. Here is a link to one..... http://www.blip.com.au/ |

Why are you using a vid TX at all ?!?!?!?!?!? A RCA wire dandling along the pole would be a perfectly reliable way to get your signal into the googles/monitor and there would be less batteries/antennas/glitches to care about.

I will often have an assistant set up the pole (eg on the roof of a building) while I set up the groundstation in a different location, so a video downlink is worth the effort.
