Excellent! Started out real nice, up to 15mph straight in until about 1 then shifted to west wind. I spent the rest of the afternoon flying my slope DLG and foam between the trees on the west face. I had big fun (landed in trees climbed 1 and hung the weasel from the powerlines, and left my phone up there)

Got the family to come with me and we will fly again tomorrow. Forcast calls for light Southerly air. Will post a few pics when we get home. Lee

If you have good enough lift in a west wind for a heavier plane, you can launch hard toward the south-west, run to the west point, work your way up a ways, then fly back to the main hill and base-slope up from there. A high-speed low pass will let you zoom out west again, etc. You can keep that cycle going until you're tired of it. Try it, it's a little challenging but a lot of fun.

Dieter - Thanks for the tip. I watched the eagles doing just that all afternoon. It does sound a bit tricky and fun to. I am still a bit green with RC but seem to be catching on quickly. Pushing the limits of my comfort and skills seems to help a lot. I wish Andensegler were in the cards for me this year. I really can't complain though, we have some killer slopes within a few hours drive of Seattle.

We got a bunch of flying in and had a nice time up on the butte. Wind was light and on Thursday the sun was out. I got everybody to fly a bit and I flew everything I brought. Lee

Lee, glad you had a couple of nice days. I just got back last night and of course the wind looks like garbage for the next 5 days or so

Who all came down with you this time?
Hopefully we can meet at PB (or Eagle if I can get over there this Spring) again.
Tom

Hi all, I am based in Eugene and have been looking for a suitable site to resume flying r/c gliders after a long lay off. Any advice about flying from Peterson Butte?

Thanks!

South wind is what you want. This is a link to a great weather web site:

If a new guy from Olympia were to come down, is there a club membership or anything like that that needs to be taken care of prior to flying?
Thinking about tomorrow. First time to PB.

Yes, Sunday looks good I think I will go.

A little light on wind, but good lapse rate and low chance of rain before 4pm .....

Hi Thom, Nope, please just practice good farm etiquette, leave gates as you find them.
Also, please no dogs outside of the vehicles.
Hope to see you tomorrow. You have directions?
Tom
