Hey wait, I'M still using 72Mhz (well, ok, just for the old stuff, all the new planes are 2.4 )
I think Pat still has some 72 as well, but the board definitely doesn't get the use it used to.

What forecast model are people using for wind direction and speed at PB?
Today, NOAA has 8mph from the south, but slople.com has 0/0. The MM5 page and UofWash is just confusing but if I got the correct map, it looks closer to NOAA then slople.
So, what are you guys looking at?

Wiindfinder, I knew I was missing one.
Well, it turns out that both windfinder and NOAA were wrong and slope.com was right. Got up there about 1pm to total calm. There was an occasional very slight breeze that would move the survey tape windsock, unfortunately it was out of the north.
I wasn't the only one suckered though, there were about 6 paragliders pilots up there getting ready for a hike to the top. Hope they had a good sled ride down

Dieter, the sign is still in great shape. The duct tape portion that said don't litter is gone, but the vinyl lettering is all still in great shape... How old is it?

Wow that is a great weather site. It beats Weather Underground by a long ways.

Thanks Dieter.

Tom, credit for the windfinder site is due Pete; I just reposted his link.
That sign's at least 8 years old... unbelievable.

Good to meet you guys, was good air, glad the windrider bee didn't chop anyone's head off when I was flying it in the out-of-control finless configuration... there were a few head-over-heels tumbles induced by the yaw instability today... Steve

Had a great time flying and meeting a few locals yesterday at PB. Lee and I arrived shortly after 9AM to find the winds straight on at +20mph and only increased as the day went on. Rain wasn't an issue till around 3:30 at which time we were about to start packing up so that worked out. We had planned to spend two days in the area but the forecast indicated we'd probably be in the vehicle for most of the day today so we headed north.
Windshield time to PB from the I-90/Hwy18 area, at a little over 3hrs, was only a few minutes longer than if driving to Eagle from here. For us, PB is definitely a doable day trip.
