Peterson Butte today was mild, cold, and wet, but still soarable.

I got there around 10:00 AM, as I wanted to miss the traffic for the OSU football game. Winds were SSE about 8mph. Good enough for lighter planes, but not enough energy for full-on PB fun. I left around 2:30pm and the winds may have been picking up a bit.

I only had to sit out one rain shower, otherwise I was flying most of the time and stopping every now and again to wipe off my goggles.

Pete was there with ??? (name escapes me right now -- both from Eugene).

I was thinking of going tomorrow but doesn't look like it will happen as the wind has decided to switch to NNW.

Thanks for the update Pat. Probably not worth the trip with that little of wind.

I had family things to do this morning, but would have gone. Bet conditions were great.

From here, it looked like it was north wind anyway... (no flying here either, our regular program was interupted by rain and no wind)

Went to PB today on a whim. Had some free time so I gave it a shot.
Arrived to find 15+ mph a little SW. Flew my Raven for a while then my Focus.
About an hour later wind shifted to South but maybe only 8-10 mph. Still flyable for the Focus and Pica and Zip33.
Just for fun, fired up an electric glider and had some fun too.
Several Jelly Fish guys climbed up the mountain and launched. Looked like they had plenty of lift up there. A couple of Hang Gliders took the sled ride to the bottom.
All in all a good time, some sun early on, then clouds but no rain.

Tim: Thank you for the nice words. Thanks also to all the contributed the funds to buy the rock, pay for the rental on the equipment and gas to get everything from Portland to PB and back. What was suppose to be a one day job became two, but I think we did it right. The contractor donated his time and the time of his helper. As long as everyone drives "nice" it should hold up.

Glad you got some-- I've been out of town and have yet to throw an RC model (or hang glider) off of Petersons this season-- maybe this weekend will be COLD and lifty-- if it's not easty, looks like some chance of that, that's never good... Steve

PS I was at Point of the Mountain (SLC) about 3 weeks ago-- utterly AMAZED at how few people flying, with GREAT conditions-- so close to a major city-- on a day like that, a good handful of RC'ers would have driven all the way down from Portland to fly Petersons, weekday or no... !! Guess the locals get spoiled by too many great days! Steve
