NEU 1110 with 1509 5.2 gear need help with prop

hi all,well i'm going to throw this out there see what i'll get from you all.
i have purchased plane and rich had moded a 1110 and mated an 1509 5.2 gear box to this motor on 4s first i have to tell you that this motor now has some crazy power.
i am using a 13x7 on cc80 g3 4s 2200,the plane is crazy fast but i can feel there is very hi rpm and also feel there is much more this motor can provide,maybe the prop is not a right one,at 1000watts the plane with all the gear 1330g,it is a 1.5m fredy

Here's my 2 cents...

Props below 65% P/D ratio are for electric sailplanes only (not hotliners).
13x7 = 54%
Bottom line is your pitch speed is about 63 mph.
If you hit the power when the plane is doing 70+ you will get zilch.
Too low pitch speed for the Freddy

My guess is that you are just over 1000 watts and about 87 amps.
Seems like a good range for that motor, so holding about the same...

13x7 = 87 amps / 130 oz thrust / 63 mph / 85% eff / 49K rpm
12.5x9 = 92amps / 114 oz thrust / 78 mph / 83% eff / 47K rpm
12x10 = 89 amps / 102 oz thrust / 89 mph / 84% eff / 49K rpm

Depending how you like to fly (thrust vs. speed), with either the 12.5x9 or the 12x10, I think that you will find a noticable performance improvement.
And the motor rpm's are right where you want for sport flying (safely below the 60K limit).

12.75*13 is as far as I would go on that setup. It runs, but it get's hot; you would have to limit your bursts carefully.

I think the 13x7 is the place to start, get comfortable with launching flying this plane, etc. When you are ready, prop up, Cliff's comments are (as usual) DEAD on

You tell us...

But, based on the weight of the plane, it should pull plenty hard, and have the additional 15 mph of pitch speed.

Launches should remain a non-event with the 12.5x9.

- Cliff

PS - Don't try the 14 inch'ers on that set-up.
Even a 13x10 or 13x11 would be pushing the limits pretty hard.

I am drawing about 70 amps. The lower Kv on the 1.5Y compared to your motor lets me use a bigger prop. I don't run it for more than about 10 sec bursta, but I could probably run it longer. My speed control is a Suppo 100 amp model from Lightflight RC. It has worked fine so far.

Rudy makes a nice 13x9 and a 13x10.5 also. Those are so nice in their design, i just made a mould of a single remaining blade of 13x9 for prosperaty.

The length of the blades vs the cord is just right. They are NOT to wide like all the big wide props (17x18 and so on) that Rudy makes but they are also not to narrow like the 14.5x14 and 16x17slim. These are just perfect.

These are the prop sizes you should be trying. Forget about anything else!

Joe tomorrow I will finish the mold of the new GM 17x20-21,5" prop.
Will post pictures soon.The idea is to use the 5 and 7 degrees RFM spinners.
Designed by my father who is an World champ in tethered hydroplanes and has a lot of knowledges about props.

Performance graph will follow also.

Regards
