Thank you It's not my first heli though, I've had 4ch and Walkera 36 which I couldn't get to fly properly at all.

This one, I built myself, much better outcome than Walkera 36. With 36 I ended up trying to tweak it to get it stable than actual practice flying with it.

Quite happy with the outcome so far with this one. Hopefully I'll actually get to practice flying this time more than tweaking.

i just got my first heli last week and it is also an hk450 im comfortable with hovering and basic manuvers and starting into the other orientations as i'm all tail in right now. set mine up with some align wood blades a friend gave me and the turnigy 3700kv motor with a 12t pinion and the 10$ 40A esc from hobbycity i think its a tower pro with purple heat sink.

i wanted to ask. my plastic tail stabilizer is VERY flimsy and would vibrate terribly until i CA'd a piece of carbon rod to it. did you have the same problem? also be sure to buy some align feathering shafts. the stock one will bend on the slightest bump!

i do have to say its pretty durable im on my 3rd set of blades already but thanks to friends having parts to fix it i havn't had to purchase any replacement parts.

perfect beginner heli

You're right, the feathe shaft does bend quite easily. I've got 6 spare now, lol. I didn't have problem with the tail stabilizer vibration that much though, I got my Turnigy 3700 kV motor yesterday, I'll be testing with 11T pinion first.

The motor in that video is Twister 450 motor with 10 Tpinion.

What TX are you using? I'm using the cheap 2.4 GHz from hobby king. So far it's doing ok.

im running a dsx9 tx ( same as the jr9303 2.4 except most of the switches are backwards example being throttle hold is on left and flight mode on right) and im using the spektrum ar6100e receiver working great so far. but it is a bit much of a radio for just a 6ch heli but i bought it for the extra mixes it gives vs my old dx6i.

what gyro and tail servo did you use?

You're a lot more up market there than me. I have to visit the computer everytime I want to make a change on the transmitter settings!!

What's the throttle and pitch curve settings you're using?

Gyro is Telebee Head Lock & Standard (yellow cable not connected to receiver) only used as head lock and adjustments changed directly on the gyro

Tail servo is also cheap slow HXT900 , all four servos the same .

Thanks guys, nice to hear positive feed back

I like the new motor and pinion setup better. More head speed. I need to find the best throttle and pitch curve combination that suits me.

It's easier to take me where I want to go and get back to hover status from some movement without wobbling too much with this.

My transmitter control is only through computer so what I do is have the same throttle setting for both normal and idle up and have slightly different pitch curve for normal and idle up. It's easier for me to then judge which direction to go up or down in the curves.

It's probably common knowledge but I thought I'd mention in case if it helps someone reading this

Not enough time to play around

i'm still setup in in normal mode will likely have the guys at the field help me setup sport mode (st1) and stunt mode(st2) saturday when we are all out flying. im getting the hang of tail in and moving to my side orientations. it wierd i can't hover while in those orientaions but if im moving forward im absoluely fine. i think its because im used to flying planes :P heli's are crazy fun!

so did you order the upgrade head and tail units yet? i found a set on ebay of both for 40 shipped but they have yet to arrive. even then i'll likely wait until another crash to install them.
