I don't agree with multi engine getting more points. A lot of multi engine aircraft like biz jets, airliners, and cargo trans are actually simpler to build, than a single with internal ducting.

I think above and below 80mm is a good way to go. then put them into flopper and retracter catagories, just as what was previously suggested. keeps things simple that way.

either way, I'm in if it gets up and running.

Why should extra points be awarded for "scale". Is this a design competition?
Or a "copy" competition.?
Not that I'm bent on kit bashing, but there's more "Design" there, than making a "scale" copy of something that already exists.

Design = Creativity.

Where is our best designer at with the garage door opener??

Less rules more design. But copying something that is already done i.e. scale gets more points i.e. see JB's airliner. Best looking, best design wins. JB's airliner is a master piece of design and looks great.

With a scale model you are locked into a shape already and then you have to design a rc model into the space of the existing airplane. That to me is more difficult that fitting a shape around your equipment.

Scale is always nice… I entered a sport design last time around and was stunned at how much effort is actually required to “fly” by the deadline. As a result, we had a mere 3 or 4 models actually fly.

My thinking, if this was attempted again; the more designs that finish would be a big accomplishment. Keep the rules as minimal as possible to foster more participation.

This time around I would design around the power plant, ease of access to batteries, better wing loading, etc. For example, it’s hard to find a 70mm ARF that’s designed for 1k watts, at a wing loading that’s fun to fly.

I have a concept design, just need some motivation (like a contest), when the cold weather prevents quality stick time.

Joshua,
I agree to a degree . The whole point was to encourage complex models. The YF-23, F-14, Su27, MiG29 T-37...etc or non pod designs that would benefit from a twin design.

One Six Right,
Deleted: Never mind.

Have fun with the sport jet competition
