Construction Material

The construction material used to build a model should not be apart of the award decision. The quality and performance should be. For example the foamie below

If there is a sport/concept balsa category I'd like to give it a shot! My old man might throw his hat in the ring as well!

Just some ideas

A contest needs prizes!!!

How about you shoot for an event as the end date and begining vote date. Say the 2010 AZ Jet Festival. It could be a combined internet and live event combo.

You would not have to attend the event with your jet but could if you wanted.

You better have a couple of categories as well like pro and amateur. Also you might want to break it down by fan size. 90mm and larger and 70mm and smaller or something like that.

Shoot, I was waiting for someone to start another design contest so I could enter my F-20 in it. I got sick of waiting so I went ahead and created it anyway.

Since it was started before 2009 is it ineligible? Does it make a difference when it was started as long as the deadline is met and it wasn't entered in a prior contest?

The design requires quite a few changes. If I revise it and build another model then would it be eligible? Or if I enlarge the design for a larger fan?

What abou twins. Would a twin 70 be in the same category as a single 90?

Not sure if you would even break it down the way I suggested. You could also break it down by length or wingspan. I'm just saying these are some points that should be considered.

I consider a foamy either a flat plate depron or a molded foam airframe. Anybody that can carve a chunk of foam or bend and shape depron and have it look like some of these folks do, is a craftsman and should be included in the top classes. Those Air Sally and Sparks dudes can build me a foam plane anyday of the week.
My opinion is the winner should be announced at e-jets 2010.
We may try to enter this contest if it all works out for us.

Anyone thought of approaching some vendors for sponsors?

Man, you got lotsa work ahead of you, with the rules and classes for this thing.
Keep it simple. In the end, half of the guys will drop out. Trust me.

maybe you could talk "One Six Right" into letting his boss or suppliers donate a prize to this contest. hahahahaha. not like I'm giving a shameless plug to Efflux RC or anything. ok, yeah I am, so sue me. LOL. maybe we could add Stumax in there too. I know his product is in the upper echelon, so maybe not a fan, but how about a coupon for a discount or something? LOL.

either way, I have a few ideas up my sleeve, so I'm deffinitely in this one. time to go heat up my printer, some pencils and bash some foam into shape.

Well see what happens as this evolves. It was mentioned that the contest be at the AZ jet fest, but he may be thinkin' WSEF in So Cal. Prob gonna set it up with event CD fiirst.

whadda ya thinkin Gene?

BTW, I'm considering having a 90mm Top speed event. (yes...again)
I feel there would be more "live" participants if it were in LA.
