I did some part throttle launches and nearly crashed it a few times. Now i am back to full power for launch. This produces far less torque roll. It is not the lack of thrust that is the problem, it's the torque that does it. Also partial throttle as i wrote somewhere else will KILL the ESC if you are running more amps then the rating of the controller. This is the general rule you will learn to live with. Oh, so i am entertaining hu?!
![]() Last year i managed to distroy so much equipment and most of it i believed at the time for no reason. Now i realise the Kontronik FAI18 is simply to small for F5B. The Phoenix LV controllers have a lack of copper. The MGM controllers have to many safety's. Old generation and cold Lipo packs will kill the ESC due to voltage ripple. And a fair few more lessons learnt like that. We all have to start somewhere. Joe Now i have to go get ready to kick your but in Muncie.

Atlas 180 fried
Joe (jjmouris)
I have some updates which may amuse you a little ![]() I had to buy the Atlas 180 ESC, and well it looked good I hooked it up and was about to program the settings through the new IR receiver/ remote control system this ESC is delivered with.Well, i hooked up the IR receiver to one of the free ports in the ESC (as that was how i read the instruction at the moment) but nothing happened. I unhooked it and was to re-check the instructions. I touched the ESC and it was choking hot , i got a bad feeling, and voila it was dead![]() Some bug in the controller must cause it to short (or something) when you hook up the programming unit wrongly. ![]() I am waiting for a feedback from the seller, but likely doesnt get more than half the cost in refund because they probably want to say i did something wrong.![]() Money doesnt matter too much as i am more interested in hearing them say you may fry the unit by hooking a cable wrong (This doesnt include any power source of course) Until i have a good explanation, i cant say other than : Stay away from the Atlas 180 To make the day perfect, i hooked up my Kontronik Jive, just to find that my Jive do not accept the inductivity of the Neu 1512/1.5D, so it wont arm ![]() So the good news: I ordered a CC180 ![]()

A friend had a schulze go up in smoke when he connected it the first time. Happened to Kontronik as well , I'm sure there have been Castles too.It just happens with this stuff sometimes (I was lucky so far, only managed to kill 2 (Flash(OEM Jeti, wrong polarity) and HET(overloaded)), you'll only be safe buying none of them....I suggest rubber power....
