Super Beast Seaplane

Is anyone familier with the Super Beast Seaplane? I bought one at a local swap meet and I'm looking for some more information about the design before I attempt to fly this one. It is a single float design with a fixed horizontal Tee stab and uses elevon mixing for pitch control. I believe it was a kit plane. I can post pictures if there is any interest.

It was kitted by RnZ models.
Someone recently told me the proprietor had passed away, but they have not yet taken down the website.

Great find Jim! That's the Beast. Mine was labeled as a Super Beast, but it is a .46 powered Beast. Mine has some strange metal hydrofoil looking tip "floats" but they will not float since they are metal. I may need to add some styro around them to help with the floatation. I'll post some pictures and maybe someone will have some suggestions.

Mike,
A fellow club member has one, it flies great but looks strange.
Cool handle on top of the wing.

My only concern is the tip "floats" are not really floats on my Beast. They look more like hydrofoils. Here are some pictures of the plane.

Tip float's or ski's?

To me the tip "float's" look like ski's, as if the plane is set up for flying from snow. Makes sense as the design would work nice as a "winter" plane flying from snow.

I guess I'm just a sucker for a challenge. It was love at first sight. I'll let you know if my opinion changes after I get some flight time on the Beast.

I flew the Beast this morning off wet grass next to our runway. It flew great. Lots of comments as to the stability in flight and the knife edge from one end of the runway to the other. Now I have to fit some floatation to the tips before the float fly this Saturday.

The Beast was the hit of the float fly. It got a lot of razzing before the 1st flight, but it handled great on the water and even better in the air. Even though it only has an OS 40, it was one of the fastest planes at the meet. It makes beautiful touch-n-goes. I'm still working on the tip floats though. It needs just a little bit of floatation when its at rest. I think a 1" thick piece of foam would probably work just fine.

Ian,
The Beast is a worthy project for completion. It may not have the "sex appeal" of the Seawind, but it sure generates a lot of interest anywhere you take it. I can almost guarantee that you won't ever see another one at any float fly you attend.

I'm even considering converting mine to E-Power.
With a Turnigy 35-48-1100, I could use a 3700 mah 3-cell pack and have a nice light weight setup.
