Model Submarine hardware

For the newbies...
Where do most people get their screws, bearings, etc? I usually go to McMaster and have them the next day. Very competitive pricing as well, for example, Oilite bearings in the 50-60 cent range. Not too shabby!

Where to Buy

I would like to buy some Simmering seals for my propshafts but only find them on Alexander Engel's website. Are there any American sellers of the same water-proof seals as the Germans sell ?

Thanks for pointing out the price anomaly!

My staff read my scrawl wrong. I have 'Tennis Elbow' from too much fishing, and have a hard job writing. My 3 looked like an 8, and so the ad and web page was written up incorrectly.

The bearings we sell should read THIRTY FIVE cents each. (Not too shabby eh! expfcwintergreen! Hope to see your order soon!) I hope to get the web page and ad corrected shortly. If you have already ordered these items, don't worry, we'll credit you accordingly.

As for the Simmering Seals, I'll ask The WIZ about them. I'm pretty sure ( as usual) we can get them for you at a reasonable price.

As for 'Next Day' service! Phew! You must be close to a depot, paying for next day air or ordering so many, they are making a special run for you.

Simmering Seals

Kazzer,
Thanks for the help sourcing out the simmering seals.
Let me know when you find them.
I need 4 of them.

Can I use stainless steel ball bearing behind the seal similar to a Novak Team brushless motor bearing.I'm using a very slow sensored brushless motor with a Goat Crawler ESC.This will offer low scale speeds with a direct-drive motor.

Do you mean the magnetic pushrod connectors? I made my own by encapsulating some rare earth magnets (a fellow sub modeller sent me some, but there are several sources on the internet) in Super Sculpy which I got from Michaels arts/crafts. Sculpy is a heatset polymer clay. It can be drilled/tapped for the pushrods, or you can mold it over the threaded end prior to baking to form the threads.

I also use the Sculpy to make casting masters.
