Thats a nice looking plane. Looks like we are in a new era of 3 channel or more UM planes being produced and with 2.4ghz tech. The price looks good on that for a RTF UM plane. Looks like the 2 channel AH stuff and similar will soon be relegated to the r\c Toys forum.

I'm betting that the radio gear in both planes are very similar but not necessarily compatible.

I also wonder why I would consider a AH plane again.

While looking at the AH display at Walmart and checking out the switchblade at $79.95, I could not even force myself to buy it.

Having a Sukhoi and P51D, the AH stuff are just toys.

I agree with you.....to a point.
Really they are ALL toys but some are more sophisticated....that's all.

The Air Hogs still have rightful place however.
They are easy to fly, vitrually indestructible, are great to fly on a nice calm evening to ease the nerves, very easy to transport, kids love them, etc. etc.
One could go on and on.

Even the "Air Hog" planes are advancing a little bit.... check out the SU-47 from ITC at Radio Shack. It's an awesome little "toy" flyer. The thread here
is rather extensive that covers it.... and it's $29.99!

I still enjoy my Air Hogs, especially with my family and will continue to do so.

The 3 channel and 4 channel micros are advancing rapidly but the complexity, etc. adds or creates problems too.

Really I love them all.
I hope the progression continues....
But you can't beat an "Air Hogs" type plane for the money and what it offers on many levels.

Oh....and I was not speaking of the switchblade.... agree with you on cost and I don't like what
it offers anyway.

They can't. And neither can DSM2 copy HL stuff, or Futaba, or Assan, or Corona, or E-SKY or anyone else. It is is not legal.
I suppose Spektrum would allow someone like HL to make DSM2 equipment if HL wrote a big check to Spektrum with a big number followed by lotsa zeros.
And besides that, why would you want everyone to use the same format anyway? It would soon defeat the purpose of 2.4, if someone else could bind to YOUR airplane.

Well, IDK, there was a time when the AH planes were useful as anything with real control and a solid radio link was kinda expensive. These days, If you hand a Ember2 to someone with just a little institution, they will more than likely be able to fly it and in no time will be flying like a pro. Most of the AH planes were dicey at best and were actually hard to control and have a "toy" like radio link.. Sure the EPP foam helps keep them in one piece but 3 channel control works even better because you can actually put the plane were you want it.

I'm personally done with 2 channel toy planes. As far as the 3,4 channel stuff being toys well, there is a difference and it starts with the packaging and tech thats involved. Kids play with toys and treat them as such, Adults and r\c enthusiasts of any age fly model planes and take very good care of them..thats the difference.

I still have my Arrow Flight and I think its the best of the micro toy planes as it has an actual rudder. I also have the AH sport and Power hawk and JetScream and they are cool but are looking more like kids toys with every new 3 channel UM plane announced.

Very well said and I'm in agreement.....

Hence what I wrote previously....Really they are ALL toys but some are more sophisticated....that's all. Adults are more sophisticated too.
That's why we obsess over things such as this.
