Hi b-29er

There are loads of suppliers here in the UK, just depends if you want one so bad that you're willing to pay the shipping. Also you could always PM William at Turbofan Electrics, because I recently bought some spares from him for my Mustang and Spitfire, and he had some left. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/member.php?u=8907

Hope that helps
Andy

Problem with p51

Okay... I was able to locate a NIB erc p51... took it out of the box to test it... found out that the motor is reversed... ailerons and elevator work properly... motor spins backwards... hard to fly a plane in reverse

I'm not electronics wiz... do I simply need to switch the motor leads? How do I access the guts of the plane to get at it?

Thanks,

Ken

Hi Ken

Yes you're correct, you just need to swap the wires. To get at it without cutting the cowl open, Look at the propeller face on, just under the prop shaft there is a small screw located behind the gear cog. You can see it if you look through the holes in the cog. Undo that screw and pull the whole gearbox and motor assembly out. It's a bit fiddly and you'll need some long nose pliers to plug the motor back in.

Regards
Andy

I have experience with these UM spitfire's. I own 2, most of you would probably see my repaint into Mk XVI FU P which is owned by Temora Aviation Museum. I got a new one, and before flying I gutted my old Vapor, and took the brick out of her. I wired up ailerons over rudder, which is the way the plane came. I got a E-flite brushless ESC and motor out of the Beast for $45 AUD. Then repainted her into the previous paint job on my old one. She is the best flying plane I have, the best battery for mine is the E-flite 500 mah, but I oftenly fly with a 160 hyp. When I get my new camera, I will post a flight video with the new set up.

Hey Michael

Have you got any video of your new set-up flying?

Thanks Andy... I found some pics in this thread and from the Hobby-Lobby forum.. pulled the motor and found that it was plugged in wrong... whoever assembled it must have been color blind and couldn't match corresponding colors...

Andy, I had a video on my old hard drive. It still flies, but as it is a 1s brushless set up, I need alot of room to fly her, and nobody flies with me anymore. I will try when I attend my first indoor flight.

I am going to get a new one in september. My spitfire was ritten off by a mischievious husky that was being walked while I was flying it. I am going to do the following;
Add a AR6400T (Out of my mosquito which died )
dual aileron servo's
3 bladed prop
UM P-51 motor
Retracts (I figured them out, so I am going to do them)

They are sweat flyers when they are modded, but are terrible box stock.
