World Models 28% Extra 330L

I had a port visit in Hong Kong so I stopped by Radar Hobby Shop to check out the Main outlet for World Models and all I could do is look up on the ceiling untill my neck hurt... HEHE all the planes where mounted up there. WOW what a big shop and really good prices. Plus I don't have to pay shipping I just had to carry it back to the Aircraft Carrier... Man thank god I'm a Chief so I have more room to store planes and what not. So I had to pick something up so I walked out with the World Models 28% Extra 330L for a small fee of $2130.00 HK ($274.13 US) not to bad for a 90"inch plane. Now comes the fun part what to put in it? 10 cells or 12 cells? What motor will I go with? And the last one where am I going to put it in the house? HEHE the wife always asks me that one.......

Come on now some one had to convert this model by now? I'm just looking for some help here!! Well I was looking at the Hackers A60-14L for this plane but at almost $300.00 for a motor is a little high for me at this time. I might just keep it in the box for now or I was think of going with the Trunigy 80-100A 180Kv with Trunigy 100A HV going 12 cell Lipo some where in the 5000mah range or should I go with a 12s2P A123's?

Thanks
Mike

Mike:

Great choice for a project!
It looks like your Extra would end up being about 19 or 20 pounds after it has been converted. That is a little heavier than our Gee Bee’s. (mine ended up at 17 Pounds) If I were you I would try to find a motor that is 150 to 180 KV so you can spin a larger prop some ware in the 22 to 24 inch range for good thrust.
I am flying 2 different 12 S Lipo’s in my Gee Bee and getting awesome performance from both. (2 6S in series) I am pulling 70 amps and the batteries are only worm after a 6 minute flight.

Great minds think alike; I have ordered an edge 540 with 87 inch span for my winter project. My plan is to power it with a Hacker A60-18L or Turnigy 80-100-A 180Kv (providing they get stock) and spin a 24 X 12 (Hacker) or 24 X 10 (Turnigy).

Ta Ta for now.

Large electric

Mike,

I am also thinking about a large electric plane have a Hobby city HXT 63-64B on the way looking at a few planes from Cyclone Toys to put it in. I already have one of their 26cc Yak 55SP they sale and have a new DLE 30cc motor for it just need to put it together. Now I want a large electric so I am looking at some of their other 30cc size planes. Might have to get with you to help with some of the electronics, I have some new A123 sitting in my garage that I might use in it or move on for some more funds for this new plane. When you get back we should get together and fly here or at your field. Be safe out there.

I've just finished my Battery box. I used the feul tank holder and put foam on the sides and front and using velco straps to keep them in place. I have included the photo's on this one. Enjoy

Just finished CGing the plane and doing the running up of the motor.. Well all i'm going to say this think is going to be a rocket

105 amps, with 4,502 watts WOT.
With the plane at 21 Lbs mostly going to the 12s2p (6.8lbs) come out too

4,502 * 21 = 214 watts per pound!!!

i'm swinging a 24*10 XOAR eletric wood prop..

rc man1,

Have you flown the plane? Flight report will be appreciated.
I am thinking of buying this plane and converting it to electric as well.
