Thank you Adamtc, the jigs work very nice and help to build an extremely accurate fuse, best modeling tools I've used. The workshop isnt that orderly, you're not seeing the big picture !
This is a short kit from Klarich and purchased the plans from them too. They even supplied the wire for the gear pre-bent.
I know my next words are going to make alot of the old timer builders kringe but, I'm either going to build a straight wing or reduce the angles for the gull wing by half, I'd rather have the flight performance. Anyone flying a gull wing Spook ?

Fuse basic structure is done. Sanded on the horizontal stab for an hour and still not done sanding...

Beautiful work indeed, Captain, as others have said.

Just a bit of information that may or may not be of interest to you. A 96" Spook was a construction article in the May 1990 RCM. In that article, the author, Lloyd Ressler, writes:

"I had to add 13 ozs. of lead to the nose to balance the Spook in spite of using heavy wheels, a 4-stroke engine, and a heavy copper exhaust extension".

He goes on to recommend extending the (very short) nose of the original by several inches, and includes that as an option on his plans. Since you don't seem to be too hung up on "authenticity", you may care to consider doing something like that at this stage rather than when everything's finished.

FWIW. Looking forward to the rest of your build log.

Thanks Harry, I had already chosen to build the long nose version to avoid adding extra weight.
I discovered after I had built the vertical stab that the horizontal stab is captured in the lower section of the vertical, so if someone intends to build one also you'll need to (not add the lower aft curved section) till after both horizontal and vertical stabs are mounted in the fuse.

Thanks Paul. Heres the motor box, I'll cut some lightening holes and should be plenty of room for the esc on top of the box. Counter sunk screws will hold the box onto the outer rails and the cowl will slide onto the outer rails also and held in place with magnets.

real nice

Really nice work. I look with joy when i see your work. It is not often someone takes the time to choose the wood as you have and join it with such close tolerance. It is beautiful.

Tim thanks man, do a search for "Klarich Custom Kits" . I think you have to downnload a page to see thier list if I remember right. I saved it, and you can see it below.

Tim,

Amen to that. I thought I had had enough of building so started to put an epoxy / foam glider together for speed and ease of build. Without the challenges of building and designing solutions to problems, its pretty boring!!
