Those are the ones I use. The motor is quite strong for it's size. Too bad the ESC's have been on backorder for almost 3 months. Another good candidate for an ESC is the Feigao 6A one, I've had good luck with them.

I got extra servos, RX, and Speedcontrollers as they are all on backorder. This way I have some on hand for another plane! Would using a GWS 5030 prop be a good fit? Got those at LHS and the propsavers but may be a bit too small for this large of a plane.

How does this all look? Should be a pretty light setup!

You're right about the backorder on the ESC, but I've found the only way to get all the Hobby King backorder items is to order and pay for it, then wait. When they restock, everyone who's paid and is waiting gets the goods first, hence there is never enough left over for general sale. I had a large order of 10g motors, ESC's, lipos, servos, a Turnigy 9X with RX's, half the items were backorder, they reserved the other half until one by one everything came in. The parcel is on the way to me now, I paid for it nearly 4 weeks ago, and in that time I didn't see any of my backorder items for sale again on the site.

I used to use the HTX500, but now either of these are my "GO TO" servos, better weight and seem to be as good as the HTX500. I like the 3.7's for the weight savings.

Another good one is the Vigor VS9, but you have to have at least a 2A BEC as they draw a lot of current. http://hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store...idProduct=2151

For the lightest weight I like these. They seem to have enough torque for these warbirds. The only thing is you have to cut off the connector and put on a standard, or use some sort of adapter cable, as they use the micro JST. http://hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store...idProduct=3714

Hey thanks Eagle! I could wait a month or so but three is a little more than what I would like! Don't know if I will get this build going until after Christmas anyway.

With that setup how good of a performer will the plane be?

Ummm...well our version of dogfighting will be getting reasonably close and trying not to crash. We are both fairly new to flying...maybe more like puppy wars.

Dogfighting is a blast. Trying to fly two of these in close proximity on high speed is very risky at times. I only flew these with another micro warbird once. We almost flew into one another at one point. The problem afterwards is figuring out which of the two black dots is yours and determining how it is flying.

Regarding the prop choice, does any one use the stock props, is their much difference in diameter and pitch compared to the GWS 5030? Also using a 2s 350mAh lipo, what kind of flight times would you expect to get?

Good advice Robert. I prefer your setup to the C10, but that is my personal preference!

HK has a couple of decent ESC available if you know how to look for them. If you do a list of all esc and then sort by weight- they list the heaviest first, so go to the last page and search backward- look at the actual specs on those that are lightest. The weight that's listed initially is the shipping weight and to find the actual weight you need to look at the specifications.

Hi Indy & Andy,

My mitsubishi zero is driven by the 10g outrunner mentioned. It has a 6A esc as mentioned and similar servo's as mentioned (2x, aileron & elevator). I use a 4x3 speedcam prop from Graupner (http://robotbirds.com/catalog/produc...oducts_id=2396) as was used on the smaller Nemises kit of a few years back. It also uses the spinner/prop adapter that was introduced for the Nemises kit.

I flew the kit with a 3 cell 600mAh lipo (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=7308) in very windy conditions and it resulted in below flight behaviour.

Your setup (3 channel) with a different prop will give a similar performance on 3 cell lipo configuration. A two cell configuration will be more light and will have more trouble penetrating the wind but will give good performance in less windy conditions I think. I did build light and added carbon rods to the underside of the wing to strengten it. The CC-Lee version will need extra reinforcement of the wing because they are without the plastic covering and will tear more quickly.

By the way, I buy in advance so I have stock of the things I know I am going to need. Being kind of addicted to these small planes, I know what I will need and it will not be money thrown away. Once in a while you get a bad servo. That's the risk of buying cheap directly in Hong Kong. If you want service, buy at a LHS. Then again your LHS might not have the small things you need. So I don't bother to get angry over a servo that isn't exactly what I expected.
