HJZ Predator Challenge, NorCal, 11/15/09
Announcing the HJZ Predator Challenge
Date: 11/15/2009 Pilots Meeting: 9:30 am Location: Fremont California, Irvington High School Many got in on our big group buy of Predator 2 kits. Finally it is time. This is THE BIG Predator 2 Event we’ve all been waiting for. If you don’t have your Predator done, get going dude! ![]() People who have Predators from our group buy but are not competitive types, please make an exception and come out to fly just for the fun and celebrate having matching planes. People who have other DLGs besides the Predator, please fly your Predator. People who do not own a Predator, maybe you can borrow one (drop some hints to your buddies). Up to two people can fly one plane; we’ll just put you in opposite flight groups. We want the grey winter sky to turn blue with Predator wings! ![]() If sadly you don’t have a Predator to fly, we don’t want to exclude you so it is OK to bring your non-conforming ship out and fly with us.More details and updates can be found here: http://www.bayrc.com/boards/viewtopic.php?p=52225#52225 |

Our Sponsor
HJZ Model, the manufacturer of the Predator 2, has generously provided a fantastic prize for our contest.
We are very thankful for your sponsorship of our event CJ! ![]() Please drop by CJ’s website and check out the great flying and great value Predator 2, available in several versions. We highly recommend the Predator 2 as an entry level DLG or a low cost competition model. http://hjz-model.idv.tw/eshop/en/index.php Here is a link to “The Official HJZ-Model Predator-II Thread” here on RCgroups: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...light=predator |

Predator Wins Again
Looks like a good chance that a Predator will win the contest.
![]() Wish I could be there to fly with you guys, but it's just a bit too far. But I will be keeping up with your doings there. Too bad it's a one day, with a little extra time it would be great if you could do a "who can launch his Predator II the highest". I've not put my, recently lost, How High in one of my Predators, but when my new altimeter arrives, I think I'll go ahead and embarrass myself. You fellers have a bunch of fun, walt |

Hi fellow Predators
![]() Nice event you got going there. To bad Denmark isn´t "just around the corner". I would like to seriusly kick some US-buts!! ![]() Just got my new shipment in from CJ, still not reaching 40 pc but 10+ and still counting. The Predator II is without doubt the best value-for-money buy. It´s said to be an entry level plane, but for sure it is competetive as well. Flew mine at a Eurotour contest and ended up in the midle of the pack. And the only one to blame is the pilot, he needs alot more training. Hope you´ll all have a great day with lots of termals! ![]() RubSon |

RubSon, sorry you can't make it to back up your trash talk
![]() . Are there any Low Wing Predators flying over in Europe yet? If so, please tell us if people like them over there. For this one design class contest, we are wondering if it is fair to make the Low Wing compete against the High Wing... And CJ, THANKS for the booms! Now P2 owners will be silly not to show up to collect theirs. Last edited by Bob McGowan; Oct 29, 2009 at 05:32 PM. |

HI Bob.
Sure that was why i dared trash-talking............. I don´t know if there is any low-wing versions in Europe, but here in little Denmark there isn´t. Some of us have been talking about trying them, but no one got the guts! Yet! Maybe I should give it a go......... RubSon |

Hi RubSon,
Here in little Singapore, I've received, what I believe is the only low wing P2. It's a pretty plane, the carbon d-box just makes it look so good. Take the plunge man. Man, what I'll do to take part in any competition. Have fun you guys. Cheers, Adnan |

Jackpot!
This is how we will be distributing the prizes generously supplied by CJ at HJZ Model:
Predator 2 Kit: All contestants will receive one ticket for the Predator 2 kit raffle. This included pilots entered in the Predator 2 class AND pilots entered in the class for all other non-Predator DLGs. We are not selling additional tickets so every pilot's odds will be equal and quite good. Predator Tail Booms: All Predator 2 owners who enter the contest with will receive 1 free tail boom. |

Bob,
Wish I could be up there to fly with you all. Low wing is ready to fly, maybe later today. You were right about the cg; I need to put some lead in the tail to get it to go to 83 mm from the leading edge. First time I've ever had to put weight in the back of a plane! John |

Hi John
I have a Low Wing D-tube on order and was wondering which servos you use and how long you made the boom. I know Bob used all 9 g servos and had to add tail weight. I'm planning on going back to D4.7s and RC Builders 19.5 g lipo, without a reg, to try and get ballance without tail weight and an 83mm CG. What do you think? Maurice |

Cg ?
John,
I do admit that my flying style has me not flying as Tail heavy as I once flew, but 83mm was not good for me on my High Wing Predators. I think I'm now around 75-78mm and my Predators will just slightly pull up in the dive test, and are pretty much speed neutral. Don't know if it makes a difference in proper CG, but my booms are cut a little long. walt PS Wish I was in on the drawing, had another mid-air today, this time with a 3D electric, it merged with my white Predator and I had to pry them apart on the ground. I came out a bunch better than his Depron plane, but this is adding yet another repair to my wing , a divot plus propeller marks. Last edited by ROOSWH; Nov 04, 2009 at 07:49 PM. |
