NEW... ElectriFly NIEUPORT XI

In the January 2010 issue of Backyard Flyer there is an add for this ARF but I can't find a thing on it anywhere, any ideas?

It is brand new and was shown at the iHobby Expo this past weekend. You can find more info here:

The video on the tower website looks great! I think the E-flite Nieuport looks better and more scale (less boxy), but this plan seems more interesting because of larger sizes and ailerons.

I have the E-Flite Nieuport. It is awesome and slow enough to teach me to fly planes (after 1.5 years of helis). However, it flies at about 200g. Way too light for many outdoor days. Then again, it was most likely designed mainly for indoors so my fault for taking it outdoors. This one is in the 600g range so should be much better for light wind days.

Be nice to see some more photos of it? I scaled up a Guillows FF N17 for RC a long time ago and it flew well. Still have it.

Wish this one had a more neutral paint scheme. This one looks like the colors will get tiresome to me pretty fast. I felt the same about the Spad too. Still haven't gotten one of those.

I couldn't find anything on the Electrifly site, but the Tower listing looks great, though incomplete as yet. Man, I built the Guillows Nieuport 11 when I was a kid. Awesome looking model! Bottom wing has a pretty short chord. Tower refers to it correctly as a "sesquiplane" = "one and a half wings".

.....And I thought I had all the planes I needed!

The video IS great. The covering scheme is a bit garish, but it's pretty scale and could be dulled down. None of the flybys in the video seemed particularly slow...it is a fighter...it looks to be a nimble little aircraft!

I am thinking that this plane might be on line with the spad XIII because of the price. The earliest planes in the series cost less but the spad came with aileron extensions pre installed and a painted pilot so maybe thats the case with this plane.

17 had the same fuselage shape and size, but with a bigger engine (110 hp Le Rhône) in a full circular cowling, faired asymmetrically into the fuselage sides. Synchronised or interrupted Vickers gun in fuselage. Same tail, wings longer by 1 rib bay, with less sweep IIRC.

Looks like they went with one of these schemes. The one on the top left.

Excuse my lack of knowledge but what is the significants of the "hunters horn" around his Family Crest? Is it literally the fact that he is going "hunting" for other enemy aircraft or something else?

Thanks
