Cool. I like it. I've got a couple other planes and whatever, and that thing really is a solid design. Easy to fly too.

gear nstalled..
installed the gear today....all i have left is the camera mount, and the rubber band keepers for the wing. as of now the model sits at 25oz. the gear added lots of weight. with 2250 3cell the weight is at 31.3oz. i might have to look into a smaller camera, i donno. randy.

That weighs well under what mine does with all it's junk. it's 50 oz with my bigger battery and cam... I like heavy planes (with adequate propulsion to MOVE said weight) they are less susceptible to wind and such... Or at least that's how it feels when I fly.

Try it with dummy weight first - I'll bet that wing will easily lift it.

camera plane is ready for its first flight....
got the high-lift camera model ready to fly....its auw without a payload is 30.5oz. with a 3 cell 1300mah pack, and 33.3oz. with a 3 cell 2250mah. i weighed my camera and its 12.8oz. ready to fly with servo trigger. my camera mount is at 1.1oz. i have not installed yet. ......that's real fat, and i have a 14.1oz. payload i can test fly....if it can haul that up, it will be fine with the 12.8oz. camera......if not, i will have to get a lighter camera. the first flight should be soon. i will be back to report. randy.

Hi Randy,
Cool looking bird. ![]() It may be a little wobbly in the pitch axis but I have found that standard thinking sometimes does not seem to apply to aircraft this size. It could well fly smooth as silk. Can't wait to hear how she does. |

thanks ira....i made it from a great planes tudor model...actually i made a stock sized one that flies great...all i did was scale it up, and instead of a clark-y i used this foil...hopefully it does fly good, and i will give a detailed flight report. randy.

Hi Randy,
Your build looks awesome! But your wing as tons of undercamber. You're gonna need a lot of up elevator to counter the negative pitch moment it will produce. Looks similar to a plane I'm building now... ![]() -Vince |

Vince, it seems to me you have more advanced knowledge of aerodynamics's than i do...would you have any cg recommendation for this high-lift wing?? is it the same as a Clark-y? i have no clue as were to have on the first flight. i was going to have it on the first 30% . would you do any thing different?. thanks for any input from anyone regarding the cg. thanks. randy.

It would be good to have CG closer to the front than to the back. Normally (and more safe for maiden) I would keep it 20-25% from front wing edge. After initial testing you could move CG a little closer to trailing edge (25-30%) and observe plane behaviour. I suppose you will need stable photo platform - thats why I am proposing to keep CG 20-25% from the front of the wing.
Here is CG calculator. You can play with it and find what you need. Regards Michal |
