this model is loosley based on cf824 p-51 plans from flying models magizine
the construction methods i used make it a diffrent model i use a built up wing and stabs instead of foam cores all formers are moded to allow for the 6mm fanfold skins and i will also be installing retracts. but i do plan on ordreing the cowl and canopy from fiberglass specialties, plus my formers are 6mm fanfold laminated with 1/16th light ply. i will also be adding wing fillets and other scale features as i go |

I doubt the dry weight of that air frame is much heavier than 4 pounds what you do is build the stang to accommodate the size of the dollar tree foam and also buy a piece of 9mm depron for the tail feathers and load bearing bulk head and wing rib formers all the other wing ribs can be cut from the DT foam. You could easily build a 60" WS stang with 8 pieces of DT foam board and have some good size scraps left over. that translates roughly to about 12 bucks for a 60" wing span war bird minus power plant and electronics. |

I'm experimenting in this type of construction with a meter sized Edge 540, based on 3DFoamy's flat Edge design. |
