Odd flash 5x Transmitter issue
I spent a few days figuring out how to set up flaperons on a new airplane using my Flash 5x. It looked beautiful when I packed up the night before. When I arrived at the field I put my airplane together and tested the set up again. It all looked perfect. I grabbed my trainer and asked him to look everything over and to take it on it's maiden flight. One of the first things he did is check the controls. We did a range check and all looked great. Then he extended the antenna and the plane stopped responding.
we collapsed the antenna and the plane responded beautifully again. We repeated the process several times with, at best, spotty results. With loosening and retightening the antenna we would sometimes get the plane to respond. Needless to say, we packed up that plane and the Flash 5x transmitter with plans to send the transmitter in.Have anybody ever heard of anything like this happening before? I have spent the last two hours searching these forums with no success. Thank you for your time and attention. |

Transmitter - Antenna cleaning 2. If battery recently charged, was the TX antenna held at least 2m away from the model or over top of and swampinmg the RX if also with high voltage battery? Odd Transmitter issue response Clarification Request
If I understand this correctly, the fact that I was standing with the transmitter within 2 meters of the receiver antenna and that I was using a more powerful receiver battery (6 Volt rather than standard 4.8 Volt) may have caused the receiver to overload and not respond to the transmitter signal. Secondly, the antenna may be in need of cleaning.
In case I understand this correctly I will clean the mast today with Isopropyl alcohol and test again with the transmitter at least 7 feet from the receiver. If this is not a correct understanding please post clarification. |

I've never come across this issue before so it's hard to say what is causing it. The symptoms are somewhat baffling.
If you were to put pressure on the crystal (on the Tx) does this affect your signal/control to the model?I think the best thing to do is to send in the radio with the receiver to be checked out together. |
