In Arizona, who's flying this weekend and where?

Hey all,

I'm starting up a Water Treatment plant here in Tempe (Johnny Martinez WTP) and I thought I would try and find some rc fields places to check out. I saw that there is a 1/8th flyin at Superstition Airpark, and I was told of a field over on Ray Rd. behind Whole Foods (I think ) off the 101. But I thought I might drop a note on here and see where you guys were flying......

I got here last Monday, staying in Mesa (60 and Country Club Dr) over the weekend, and I'll be here a few days next week.

Hopefully I can find some pilots with an EDF or two that I haven't seen fly that would be willing to let me check em out. I haven't been able to fly lately due to my work schedule, and since we just kind of lost our field back home I'm not sure when I'll be able to fly my big stuff again. So I have to get my fix watching someone else fly.....lol

John

There are 4 fields that we have been to in the Phoenix area. Superstition is the best field in my opinion for flying larger aircraft.

The 1/8th is your best bet. Lots of great scale r/c, but mostly gassers. I will be out there with fellow electric club members, between all of us we have a pretty good list of planes. We had the local news channel out there Thurs. morning doing a segment to help promote the event, I had my f-86 out there got 1 flight in the morning before heading off to work. I will probably bring it tomorrow, as long as I can fit it in the car with some other warbirds! Here is a pix with the led,s in the tail to simulate the turbine!

Sweet bird mpope1! I did the same thing with my FlyFly Mirage concerning the afterburners. I have a little bit of work to do in the morning, but I should be out of there by noon, so I'll definitely come by.

It's funny, but I got my start in RC at the Superstition airpark. I was finishing up the WTP at Sth Tempe and really interestd in helis. I saw there was a flyin there and went and went to check it out, I ended up buying a TR-450 and it was all blue skies from there. After I learned to fly the heli's my buddy got me into the planks, then naturally EDF.

Can I get into the pits with my AMA? Or is it only for registered pilots?

Nice meeting you guys today!

It was definitely a good decision to check out the fly-in at Superstition Airpark today!!! I saw some real nice planes and met some great people.

Here's a picture of mpope1's F-86 coming in for a landing:
