no paint job yet but...

I did add some LG covers to make it look a bit more scale on the landings, take-offs, and just plain sittin' around.

Make sure those are perfectly parallel to the longitudinal axis or you're going to have some serious drag issues for a plane with such minimal mass.

I made the canopy, but the mold is not quite right yet. It doesn't fit coerrctly at the front, I had to bend it a little while I was gluing. Once I get the mold right I may offer a few for sale if there is enough interest.

A couple more pics, need to get some shots in the sunlight.

I hope that mold comes together. I would be very interested in a clear one.

I really want to do a custom paint job but am worried about pulling the foam off the wing...

As would I.
I would even be interested in a non-perfect one.

mustang

Here is my mustang, i also have a molded canopy. Seemed to come out ok. Just trim off around black canopy area. Then sand flat and lay down some thin balsa or depron sheet and blend edge into rounded base of canopy. Have to clean up forward area of windshield and extend the glare shield back about 1/4 inch so the front of molded canopy has a place to rest and be glued. Im doing some up tonight so if anyone is interested just let me know. L

I was hoping you would chime in LWH! It seems like your wing decals came off OK. Was it just a case of pulling gently or did you end up getting some foam pull off? I have painted about a dozen Parkzone Cessna's for silly indoor racing league and I usually have to start with a fresh, undecalled wing to get a nice result. The stock ones with the PZ decal always pull off the "skin" of the depron. I will be putting on some post war Canadian rondels and they are quite a bit smaller than the stars and bars.

Your paint job looks fantastic. I'm hoping this thread will become an inspiration for others to "Pimp your Mustang". The schemes I have seen already are inspiring.

That looks fantastic, Matt! Well done.

I still want to know if anyone has taken the decals off the wings and if that made a mess. Anyone?
