You are correct, of course, Tommy. My bad. But I hope I'm still making my point even though I got the manufacturer wrong (I admitted I only had a "remote" familiarity with foam warbirds). Anyhow, here's what I was talking about:

http://www.hobby-lobby.com/p_38.htm?...QueryId=321687

You can see that the airframe only is now marked down to $199.00. They list the "everything you need" but they don't seem to offer a price for it any longer. Maybe they're too embarrassed. But I think it was something over $1K (at least when the model was first introduced).

My Club Prez and electric Guru Tom Hunt explained to me once how a P-38 will fly on a lot less power then say for-instance a signal engine model. Don't ask me to repeat what he said as I would most likely confuse his words and given 50 lashes at the next Christmas Party!

That said I think You both have made very valid and good point s about this model.

Retracts are sturdy. Heck even the darn doors close!

Model fly's well even in emergency situations.

You get a heck of a lot of plane/gear for your money!

i will agree the price is great minus tx and battery, since most of us have them already. just stinks they get the whole model right, and then get confused on the landing gear. i will say from the pics that it looks like the gear doors fit real nice, which is a great thing, and not always easy to do. i may end up with one, we'll see. it is a pretty foamy, thats for sure.

Psssst, Tommy. Only you experts understand things like "signal" engine models, so don't bother trying to explain.

The rest of your post makes a lot of sense!

Gees you guys are getting fired up. This old guy is still waiting for the longer term crash and fix info Thinking about new E Flite retracts for my EF P38, but who knows. A nice flying P38 tucking the feet up is so cool

Maybe gotta sell the car to get the retirement money back for more planes

You know, that might be why the mains are so far aft... It's got to help with avoiding a tail scrub, at least a little.

Thanks for the info on the landing character of this plane Niel and Jon. I am used to the E-Flight P-38 so there is room for flair for landing but it is heavy for the wing loading and comes in fast and I tend to scrape the rudders on less than favorable conditions. The looks of this P-38 are great and I hope to obtain one. The cost seems pretty decent. Would you say a 4s battery will be needed for this plane? I know you don't know what kind came with it but can you tell if it is 3s or 4s?

BH is as accurate as a scud missile. Plus they are know for selling stuff with inadequate batteries and other electronics. Not that I have had a problem but I know folks that have. My experiences have been good but that has been 1 time so far.

It is 3S for sure. I'll check with the manufacturer to see what size it is for sure but I would believe it could be. 2200 mAH, based on its dimensions.

It would be cherry if my 25-30c 2200 zippy batteries will fly this thing.
